Day 18 🏡🏠🏘️🏚️🏘️💰💰💰💰

“Our first home buyer #mortgage #deductibility scheme is going to finally give first home buyers the firepower they need to purchase a #home.

We’re going to, through our housing #infrastructure program, deliver more homes for those first home #buyers.

So if you think the status quo is OK, that’s really what #Labor is offering.

The #Coalition (#LNP / #Liberal) believes that home #ownership is something that every generation of #Australians deserve, and that’s precisely what we’ll deliver, if we’re given the great honour of being elected” — #MichaelSukkar

The Opposition minister for #housing, who in his previous stint in government as Minister but nothing to show for it.

#Ownership is a misnomer in #Rust. When you declare a mutable variable x using mut. x hosts the reference of the address of the value that is stored in memory. When you declare another variable y using &mut x, y can be used to change the value stored in that address. x being a mutable variable really does not "own" anything. It is worse than the case of joint ownership in economics. In the case of mutable variables, it is much better to call x a "joint referrer" to a certain address of memory.

I just published a post about owning digital content (music, videos, podcasts and more) without spending money, on Odysee.
odysee.com/@fossery-tech:4/tak
(Unfortunately it's too long to post it here on Mastodon, plus it would look like a mess without text formatting 😂 But I'll work on an Articles section on FosseryWeb, then I'll share FosseryWeb links instead)

"Capitalism and extreme poverty: A global analysis of real wages, human height, and mortality since the long 16th century
[…]
• Data on real wages suggests that, historically, extreme poverty was uncommon and arose primarily during periods of severe social and economic dislocation, particularly under colonialism.
• The rise of capitalism from the long 16th century onward is associated with a decline in wages to below subsistence, a deterioration in human stature, and an upturn in premature mortality.
• In parts of South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, wages and/or height have still not recovered."

Friends! I've made an effort to become platform independent and take control of my #content. I'm tired of finding out that I've wasted my time building a platform for my content only to find the platform or audience changing.

To that end, I've decided to walk the talk and reclaim #ownership on my own platform. I invite you to stop by and if you feel so inclined, let's break out those #RSS aggregators and start supporting directly!

Trump proposes 50% US ownership of TikTok: President-elect Donald Trump has suggested that the United States should acquire a 50 percent stake in TikTok. This proposal came less than 24 hours before his inauguration as the 47th President of the US and shortly after the ban on TikTok went into effect in the country. The roaming cats of Bellingen are one of the biggest threats to wildlife

"The average pet cat kills 110 native animals each year, roughly 320 million across Australia, and that doesn’t even include frogs or insects. The species is directly responsible for the third highest number of extinctions in Australia, after humans and chytrid fungus."

Victoria has " effective legislation that’s empowering local government to take action on the issue of roaming pet cats."

"As the foundation of modern political systems, the nature/culture divide had profound consequences for the production of a ‘science of man’, distinguishing between men and women, body and mind, civilised and savage, and arguably human and semi-human.
[…]
"Since the first steps of Columbus, the ‘colonial bioprospecting’ has been inventorying plant, mineral and animal species for profit. To it was added an ‘ethnoprospecting’, i.e. a universal census and classification of human species, which are also thought to have ‘different natures’. By becoming ‘as diverse as nature itself’, humanity is broken down into phenotypes rather than geographical origins, and we slide from a descriptive vision to a normative view, predisposed to hierarchy."

Sylvie Laurent in "Capital et race : Histoire d'une hydre moderne"

"The #law is the most powerful engine through which ideologies can become self-replicating engines. John Locke’s theory of property as the endowed right of white men to use and to produce worked like witchcraft—the natural world, which had sustained societies for thousands of years, could suddenly be taken by force, enclosed, and tilled for the sole profit of one man, with trespassers punished. The conversion of land into one person’s permanent property was not permissible under the indigenous populations who had long occupied it, nor was such a thing permissible anywhere in the world except Europe—and even there, only after the enclosure movements of the 1600s."

#PoliticsGirl Leigh McGowan about a speech from Tim Walz:

“It feels like he cannot possibly be real. Here’s this man who is masculine without being weirdly alpha, who hunts, who shoots, who was a teacher, who is a veteran. He’s just a good dad and a great husband, and he believes in the nation.

He’s not trying to be president. It’s like you made him in a lab as the perfect candidate.

He talks to us in common sense”
