I'm arranging some multi part vocals. I don't have a huge bag of tricks yet, so I'm listening to various things for inspiration. 70s funk, mostly. Y'all, 70s funk is so good! Listening to some more contemporary funk as well, but they don't layer vocals to the same extent. I think I'm walking the middle ground and I've got some things that make me smile or even laugh, so hopefully it's good!

The Human Guide to Doing Music Online

Making music and getting it out to the world online on your own can be a pretty complicated and confusing task. I’ve been doing it for a long time, and after collecting so much knowledge over the years, it was time to give back, put it into a novel, and share it all with you.

RA!D playing in Astoria, Queens, this Saturday, Feb 1st. If you like weird, loud, post-punk music with some Deathrock leanings, and are in the area, hop on over to this Irish punk bar, Shillelagh Tavern. NOTAFLOF.

First RA!D show in NYC!

What kind of #MIDI keyboard do I need?

Question for #musicians and #composers: I need to finally get an electronic keyboard to compose with. I’m not a performer, can’t really play piano, but I still prefer weighted keys with realistic touch and good sound. Must have headphone jack and MIDI in/out to enter music into my notation software and to work with a #DAW. I don’t know what other features might be useful.

What do you use or recommend? Thanks!

Messed up a couple of notes in this improvisation. Trying out a new plectrum too. Weird how excited I was for these plectrums. (sounds #thread)

A recent #opensourcehardware project I made is the #Guitar Pico, a super cheap guitar pedal using common, cheap parts and sporting 25 effects that can be cascaded. It has a stomp pedal for changing effects, can be using to tune, acts as a MIDI device, is configurable through USB, and uses expression pedals and standard 9V power. #VGA output for visual effects is not implemented in software yet.

I've asked this before and don't think there was as much up and running at that point, but are there any great existing #PeerTube platforms for hosting #MusicVideos (and related puppet vids) that also give the option to embed privately or "unlisted"?

I currently pay a Vimeo subscription to have no ads and privacy settings on certain playlists, but I'd prefer to put those funds into more recording time and the videos themselves. Any suggestions? 🙃 #FediMusic #Musodon #DIYMusic #Music #Musician
