I have started a new weekly newsletter that will be a bibliography of new research articles on the use of CGM data to improve outcomes for diabetics. The bibliography is compiled by a machine learning program developed by Thomas Kirchel, to which I provide manual abstract relevance feedback. You can subscribe to the newsletter free by signing up for the newsletter "bims-glumda CGM data in management of diabetes" at:

Attn: #T1D folks.

Have you any experience with #fiasp, particularly as used in an #insulin pump? How does it compare to #humalog or #novolog?

I take #novolog via my #tandem #tslim, but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to control my BG as my #gastroparesis grows more erratic over time. I’m wondering if a faster-acting insulin might help, allowing me to NOT bolus until I see a BG rise when my stupid stomach decides to start digesting (sometimes immediately, sometimes 4 hours later).

I got called to come to my son's school to help change his insulin pod. I got there to discover that the app on his phone had thrown a memory corruption error and wiped out all of his insulin dosage settings

Fortunately, I have been keeping a copy of those settings in a self-hosted git repository, mostly so that I could look through the git history and see how the numbers change over time. This helps me understand the impacts that some of these changes are having

So there I am in his school's office on my phone reading a CSV off of my @forgejo instance and plugging all of his dosage settings back into the app on his phone

We use these tools to store our source code. But here I am using it for the code that keeps my son alive.

#Sana’s cell therapy may be ‘transformative cure’ for type 1 #diabetes
#Biotech is evaluating UP421, donor-derived allogeneic primary islet cell therapy, as #T1D treatment that doesn’t require #immunosuppression. Four weeks after cells were transplanted into patient’s arm, therapy had avoided immune rejection and was tied to consistent levels of c-peptide expression—a biomarker that indicates if the transplanted beta cells are producing #insulin.

A side benefit of having a family member with #t1d is that I've learned how to remove #Christmas tree sap from my hands.

Diabetic devices like blood sugar monitoring and insulin pumps are attached to the skin with sticky bandages. The sticky adhesives on these are made of refined balsam sap, which is usually non-reactive to skin. Always unsticking these and getting adhesive on my hands.

First cooking oil, then liquid hand soap. Scrub. Then rinse. Sticky is gone.

Just sent this to my SIL:

FYI, we want to see the kids on Sunday & give them Christmas presents, but we don’t want to stay long. Both <bro2> & my mom decided to mock me again for my disability at <bro1>’s bday, & my mom did it again w/ a story over Thanksgiving & somehow made it about her. I’ve asked them numerous times over decades to stop, but they continually choose to hurt me for laughs. I frankly don’t want to be around either one of them.
