In 3 days, I do my 3rd year #ramadan fasting (health, not religious reasons) as a Type 2 #diabetic

Naturally healed from pancreatitis in summer 2021 (emergency hospitalized for a week during the pandemic) as I was an asymptomatic anomaly!

Actually, I was in the ICU ward with really advanced cancer patients and elderly needing to be transferred to hospice. It was such an experience to be a young person there. The resident, nurses took good care of me, including the people who made/ brought me food from the hospital kitchens (who I all befriended).

They made such good food like shepherd's pie, mashed potatoes, but all I could eat during my stay was bone broth and jello! 2-3 IV drips fed me at all times so yeah.

YES I know that I am lucky to be alive and well now!

Got myself off insulin injections in less than a season (temporarily going low carb/vegan, losing 10 lbs. weight when I did need to), of course medically supervised by the endocrinologist, nurse mom, & the NP/doctor. I use fasting to be healthy

#OnThisDay in 2002, #WaylonJennings, American 'outlaw' #countrysinger-songwriter, and #guitarist ("This Time", "Good Hearted Woman", "I'm A Ramblin' Man"), died of #diabetic complications at 64.

Dear diabetics: do you know anybody in your life, family or circles who voted for #Trump?

I hope you’re keeping a list of all of them and I hope that you go out of your way to ‘thank’ them for this increase in the cost of insulin and be sure and tell everyone you know that they are the ones who voted for him and voted for this .

If you voted for him, you are getting what you voted for. You have no one to blame but yourself.

I have seen 45 rotations around Sol. Despite suffering from major #depressive #disorder, generalized #anxiety disorder, and #CPTSD I still manage to hold out hope for a better tomorrow.

I am on a major #weight #loss journey. As a #diabetic with #arthritis in my spine and congestive #heart #failure, I started making huge changes to my life. I started a once-a-week injectable for my diabetes. In a little over a year, I lost 110 lbs (459-349). My arthritis is not causing as much pain, but there are days.

I am the proud parent to a #transgender daughter who is an #activist and SJ Warrior. (I taught her everything I know. The rest she got from her mom!) Together our family stands up for the rights of all people. We fight for the rights of the #LGBTQIA community, people of color, and women.

An article I have written about by being diagnosed as a type 2 #diabetic and why it was not all bad for me. Indeed it brought about many positive changes. I plan to write some more articles over the coming months, also as part of my #generativeAI test.

My #UnitedHealthcare story. I am a longtime #diabetic who had uncontrolled #diabetes at the time. I had been on several #medications with no luck getting my A1C down below 8. My doctor wanted to put me on Januvia before attempting insulin. UHC denied my prior authorization for the med. They said we needed to try different meds first. My doctor sent them the list of meds, dates of use and A1C results. I had taken every single med they suggested. Still denied me. I finally got ahold of someone at #UHC “customer service”. After fight with various “managers” one finally explained…I was denied because my life was worth less than the long term cost of the medication. He explained that as a pastor, which has no real value to society, and my health issues, I might live another 10-15 years. I might be able to bring in $20,000 in profit to them in that time if I was lucky. The med cost over that time was over $30,000. So it was not worth the cost.

If #BigPharma are further encourage to manufacture #weightloss #drugs, they will persist in creating a shortage of #noninsulin #injectable #diabetic #medication.
#Diabetics are not able to get their #prescribed #GLP1 because of the focus on #magical #jabs for #weight management. Stopping these #drugs means weight gain unless you can control #eating without them & that was the problem in the first place!

Today in 'ask your internet pals this' requests, I'm looking for tips from #ActuallyAutistic #diabetes communities for an #Autistic adult (39) recently dxed with T2D (meds only, no insulin). They work, have lots of commitments, bad balance & hate exercise (vestibular over-responsiveness). The difficulty they need help with is new habit formation & saying goodbye to constantly stress stimming on cronchy foods. Any advice/resources/signposting welcome!

My blood glucose is finally starting to level off to semi-respectable territory after meals. I guess between the addition of an oral med and the trulicity dosage bump to 3.0 mg, things are finally getting under control again. #t2d #diabetic #diabetes
