The second butterfly of 2025 presented itself today: a Compton Tortoiseshell (Nymphalis l-album).
It was licking up the salty runoff on the road.
Spring is coming... 1. Kölner Kidical Mass 2025. #springiscoming #kidicalmass #koeln
#Weather here for the next few days. @ingalls wasn't kidding when he said "warming trend." High 60s and low 70s? Holy crap. Bring it on!!! #wx #SpringIsComing
Spring is approaching, and my leather workshop is filling up with cherry blossoms and dragonflies, ready to decorate your bags!
I'm currently making butterflies with the same pattern/idea and I can't wait to show them to you too! Are you more of a dragonfly or butterfly fan?
It’s funny how 7 Celsius (or about 45 Fahrenheit) feels chilly in November but warm in March.
Quite a few items popped up over the last few days:
* Several varieties of tomatoes (brandywine, san marzano, isis, coustralee, tomatillo)
* Several basils and other herbs
Still waiting on peppers, eggplants to show. Today or tomorrow, we'll do round two, with more of the same and some other items that (we think) are better to start later.
Probably start a tray of lettuces and a few herb pots, too.
We're adding a significant amount of square footage (in boxes) to our current space, so later today I'll start planning how space will be allocated. But for now, it's really just about growing a bunch -- the more, the better.
Some pretty bluebirds from my spring collection, happy Friday!

Still staring into the abyss of despair while surrounded by birds fluttering around and chirping #inthegarden #springiscoming #latewinter #sunnydays
I haven't drawn for ages. But yesterday was so lovely: we museum animators made lots of mistakes (spring?), swore and giggled like schoolchildren, cracked silly jokes, and enjoyed the sun and the visitors. Someone showed me a crocheted frog and in the evening, I had to put my mood on paper.
Of course, we were shocked by politics but we shared stories about the heros who resist and talked about more creative ideas.
