I managed to compile a #video from yesterday's hike! I admit it was a bit tough for me. 1000m elevation & #snowshoes on the backpack (hoping that I could make some good use of them).
The views yesterday were really top! At the summit I had a nice chat with a dude who was here for holidays.

Spring is slowly beginning on Babia Góra. Snow can be found only in a few shady places and, of course, on the top of the mountain. The high peaks of the Tatra Mountains still completely white.

September 13, 1983: After Page Pond, the AT scaled steeply up to Wocket Ledge, where open rock faces just off the trail provided the best southward views I had yet seen in the Mahoosucs.
After work, work and work, finally found the time (and energy) to go for my first bike ride of the year. Had to pass out cheap sunglasses along the ride to the public to protect them from my dazzling white legs. While riding uphill some walking ducks overtook me by surprise. The very nice spring sun felt like a scorching heatwave. Passed the large local boulder with people enjoy the climbing and weather.
To speak with a famous Dutch presenter known for his modesty: it was unanimously a ludicrously large success.

By 2024, ice remained on Speke, but not enough to be defined as a glacier. The three highest peaks in the Rwenzori mountains – Speke, Baker and Stanley – have been so eroded by the climate crisis that only Stanley’s glacier remains.

Mount Speke topped with ice in 2012. The Rwenzori mountains are one of the world’s most remote and dramatic landscapes, thought to be the legendary Mountains of the Moon mentioned by ancient Greek geographers such as Ptolemy.
