Another day, another hike past a #waterfall! But today it was a smorgasbord of beautiful waterfalls on a trail appropriately named Falling Waters Trail (White #Mountains, #NewHampshire). I love this trail and have hiked (or snowshoed) on it in every season. #hiking #backpacking #winter

August 24, 1983: A 12:45 start today. I had four major mountains to climb. I would need to average two-and-a-half miles per hour, rest stops included, in order to complete this section by dark.

snowstorm swept through the valley, dressing the granite giants in a delicate veil of white. From Tunnel View, the world opened like a dream—El Capitan standing watchful to the left, Bridalveil Fall flowing like silver lace to the right, and Half Dome rising distant and proud, crowned in snow.
