I know folks usually do #thicktrunktuesday but for some reason I always think of it as #thicktrunkthursday. And anyway, is there really a wrong day for pictures of trees?

July 28, 1983: The Appalachian Trail followed paved roads out of Delaware Water Gap into New Jersey. I passed a coke machine along the way. I soon reached the I-80 bridge over the Delaware River, which had a pedestrian walkway the AT followed across.

So this whole purpose of this trip was:
1. To get away from normal life and to get refreshed a little bit.
2. To hike.
3. To learn some new techniques...
4. And to capture a certain picture that I had in my minds eye.

Latest hiking lunchspot, you know it's a good one when it has a wooden rowboat slowly returning to nature

I'm not sure if hiking motivates me to poke around with #maps and data more than poking around with maps and data motivates me to go hiking.
Image taken a week ago at our camp in between Chno Dearg and Stob Coire Sgriodain.
Yesterday on the trail; took my friend to one of my favorite trails. The hillside was covered with the mauvy pink desert peaches. I think we caught it just in time. I didn't even notice there were so many desert peaches until they all bloomed.

#Hiking to the Natural #Arch today. We hadn't been there in several years, and the trail to it was a bit more adventurous than we remembered (or maybe we're just getting old), but we made it, and the views are definitely worth it. This is an area that burned in the 2001 Cerro Grande fire, and the hillsides are still littered with dead tree trunks; but you can also see all the thriving young ponderosas, planted by volunteers, especially kids from the local schools, after the fire.
I saw this banyan tree hiking the Pink Pillbox trail on Oahu. It should be called the will-to-live tree.

Water lilies, Marino Pond, Plymouth, Connecticut. September 17, 2020, 5:01 PM.
Started this morning's hike with 39°F and pretty chilly winds. Afterwards, up to 45°F, there were random snowflakes blowing around. Strange day.
A very beautiful day out in the forest! The hills are full of fresh springtime smells for the dogs to enjoy.
