The humans were having a hard time working their way into the surfing lineup today, due to a major feeding frenzy at Surfers Beach in #HalfMoonBay today (and for many days earlier).

Not seen but there’s a humpback whale out there enjoying the buffet also. We watched her for almost 2 hours, moving back and forth slowly, an occasional mini-lunge feeding. Then we watched her head out to deeper water, flashing her flukes as she went.

Update: County Public Works finished striping and installing pylons on Mirada Road in Miramar, #HalfMoonBay. It was nice to see them still all nice and white and new before drivers wreck them. It was nice to have a lane dedicated to bikes and peds, however eroded here and there, instead of cars and bikes and peds all trying to avoid each other.

Some folks were taking signatures for a petition to Save Mirada Road. While the gal I talked to wanted repairs to there could be 2-way separated lanes for bikes and for peds (which I like), the originators of the petition, if I understood correctly, want two vehicle lanes again. Nah.

Wanna give a big thanks to all the PG&E crews working full-out since this storm passed through. We just got our power back about an hour ago. Except for a few hours on Sunday morning, we were without power since Saturday night. We were warm and dry and had prepped food, so we were fine. Not counting the stress of those howling winds, that is.

I like to check on how Frenchman’s and Pilarcitos creeks fare after a good rainfall, to see how they bust through the dunes to drain into the ocean. In the first shot, I didn’t realize it but you can see both creeks kissing each other (on the mouth! as it were). Second shot gives a closer view.

I love water and seeing what changes it makes.
