I decided to spend a long weekend camping at Mt. Diablo to take advantage of the nice weather and the full moon. When we got here, there were a couple of folks at one campsite, but they left this morning, so Luna and I might end up having the entire campground to ourselves again. Early morning was a bit chilly, but no need for thermals or a heavy sleeping bag. We had a coyote concert around 2 AM.

IN-PERSON EVENT:

Tonight, Wednesday, Apr. 9, 2025, at 7 pm (PDT), Prof. Jonathan Fortney (U. of
California, Santa Cruz) will give a free, illustrated, non-technical lecture
entitled:

"New Worlds: Analyzing the Atmospheres of Exoplanets with the James Webb Space
Telescope"

in the Smithwick Theater at Foothill College in Los Altos.

Not many people know this, but San Francisco is home to a large Yemeni diaspora, especially around the Tenderloin / Nob Hill area. That's why we have so many good Yemeni coffee and cake places (Delah Coffee, Haraz). Most of the grocers are also run by the community.

A newish restaurant just opened. 'Yemeni kabab & Mediterranean' . Really excellent. Some of the best falafel I've had anywhere in this city. Everything is good really. I've been really wanting this style of food (different from regular Mediterranean' as it uses more spices) so I am happy it opened. I hope it does well. Try any of the haneeth and kabsas. I love well flavored rice like that.

Very affordable lunch sets.

My favorite bánh mì in SF right now is at Bo&Beurre, kitty corner across from Saigon Sandwich (which is fine, but B&B just has far better ingredients and flavor). It’s also almost 2x the price of Saigon. But I am fine paying that coz I like it 3x more.

One day (soon) I will write a list of all the bánh mì stores in the Tenderloin and what to get from each.

Some of my art will be featured at Works On Paper at the Inferno Gallery! If you are in the SF Bay Area, come over 3/29 and 3/30 to buy my super ultra rare zines (just a couple copies of each available). There will be a mix of SFW and NSFW art there. Cash/Venmo only.

Weekend weather update! Yes, it's going to get warm in the #BayArea, but as we know it these parts, not all things come equally with regards to weather. Saturday is a bit of a tricky day. Onshore winds pretty much all day means cool temps (50s and 60s) and plentiful cloud cover at times. (1/x)
