Day 33 cont 🥔🤓☢️☢️☢️☢️

“Support for #Australia’s ongoing ban on nuclear energy has risen sharply since #PeterDutton (Liberal) ☢️ made the issue a central plank of #Coalition #EnergyPolicy, according to the country’s largest independent survey on #ClimateChange and #energy.

The survey also found fewer people thought any benefits of #NuclearPower ☢️ outweighed the #risks compared with the previous year.

Even among #people intending to vote #Liberal, support for #nuclear ☢️ power was not overwhelming, with only 53% in favour of the party’s intention to lift the #NationalBan if elected.”

OMG I heard Nationals leader David Littleproud expound the Coalition's election pitch on energy. The fossils are still rabbiting on about carbon capture and storage (which does not work), baseload energy (which can be provided by batteries and pumped hydro) and 'nucular'. Asked why nuclear plants are uninsurable, he said they were usually 'self-insured', another word for 'uninsurable'. very unclear!

Queensland—and Australia as a whole—must implement a tax on gas exports from Gladstone. An alarming 75% of East Coast gas is shipped overseas, mainly to China, while households and businesses in the eastern states struggle with shortages and soaring prices. We need to put Australians first and secure an affordable domestic supply.
