Cuba aims to build seven solar parks with equipment from China to address blackouts and strengthen the power grid.

The project is part of Cuba's plan to add 2,000 megawatts to the power grid and reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports.

The solar parks will significantly boost Cuba's strained power system, which currently has a capacity of 7,264 MW.

“These are global markets,” she said. “The only way to figure out which policies work or don’t is to have accurate #EIA #data. Everybody benefits from that analysis, whether you’re in the private sector or the public sector,” Amy Myers Jaffe said.

#Trump’s proposal aims to cut the Dept of #Energy’s annual budget by $4.7B, mainly by cutting programs related to #RenewableEnergy & #ClimateChange. But even more significantly, the proposal aims to cancel roughly $15 billion in #CleanEnergy funding that the agency was given as part of the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure bill. That would mean rescinding funds for, among other things, battery manufacturing, technologies that can remove carbon dioxide from the air & electric-vehicle charging.

#Trump aims to slash funding for the National #Science Foundation by >50%, to $3.9B from $8.8B in 2025. The area most affected is #research & #education, including spending for #climate, #CleanEnergy & “woke” social, behavioral & economic #sciences, as well as programs the budget vaguely classifies as “low priority areas of science.”

All programs supported by the #NSF concerning #DEI in the sciences are to be eliminated. But funding for #AI & #quantum information science is to remain the same.

Klimakiller Windrad?

Thorium is a game-changer in the energy sector. It's a cleaner, safer, and more efficient alternative to traditional nuclear power and fossil fuels. Unlike uranium, thorium is found in many countries, including India, Turkey, and Norway. It's also significantly more efficient, potentially providing 200 times more energy than traditional nuclear sources. China has made a strategic decision to invest heavily in thorium technology.
