Forget nuclear, Australia is on fast lane to 100pc renewables
michaelwest.com.au/forget-nucl

Australia's politicians have argued over renewables for decades. Some are wasting time on purpose and hyping nuclear power to keep us using fossil fuel.

Meanwhile, citizens and private industry have led the way with solar power. Australia is well on the way to 100% renewable energy — sooner than many people realise.

Michael West · Forget nuclear, Australia is on fast lane to 100pc renewables - Michael WestA massive increase in solar power generation capacity is already putting Australia on the fast track to a 100% renewable energy future.

@davidgerard «There’s a real tech revolution going on right now! It’s renewable energy. Wind and solar and batteries are all super-cheap and getting cheaper, the tech is advancing by leaps and bounds, it’s doing amazing stuff.»

Yes!

@ProjectFearlessness #Pakistan replaced anywhere between 20-40% of its energy production with rooftop #solar in 2024 alone.

Its been so rapid, despite entrenched fossil lobbies, the Gov has had to cancel future coal and gas power projects, and renegotiate contracts with current ones to lower their prices or just shutter them

No amount of lobbying or narrative building can beat cold hard science and economics.

#Renewables are the future!

As Trump tries to bring coal back as a means to pander to voters it’s important to recognize coal is dying. For fossil fuels oil and gas are more efficient.

Renewables like solar and wind are rising in kWh while being cheaper than coal. This isn’t the government pushing the scale for renewables either as you see in the graph of energy mix. The market sees solar and wind are cheaper to deploy with better costs.

It is better to push towards #renewables.

With Oil prices crashing — putting expensive US/Canadian oil supply at risk — and tariff hit consumers likely causing a recession in the world’s largest economies, could Donald Trump be the best thing to happen for CO2 emissions, and the transition to renewables, since the pandemic?

Only if the rest of the (sane) world takes the opportunity to double down on renewable energy.

CNBCU.S. crude oil tumbles more than 6%, trades below $56 as China imposes retaliatory tariffsThe oil sell-off took a leg lower after Beijing announced retaliatory tariffs of 84% on U.S. goods in response to Trump's levies.

So, #Trump wants to use "energy" (I assume he means #fossilfuels) as leverage in the #tarriffwar against the #EU.

#Lindner seldomly said sensible things, but he was right that #renewables are #freedom energies. They make the #EU more independent and grant us freedom from #renegades such as #Trump.
(*And* they help avert/reduce the global #climatecatastrophe .)
