To get practices to adopt it they instituted a premium in addition to the previous formula - which had been needs based to some extent. Unsurprisingly it was G.P.s in more affluent areas who took this up disproportionately. This broke the previous consensus in favour of rehabilitation which dated back to the time in the 1900s when <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/winstonchurchill" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>winstonchurchill</span></a> was <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/homesecretary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homesecretary</span></a> ! Jonathan Emmesedi<p>I dislike Xi Jinping's maritime bullying, fear Donald Trump's threats against Panama, and loathe Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.</p><p>All of these are symptoms of worsening international relations. Let us not forget, however, that this current sickness is in large part a consequence of the US led invasion of Iraq, a war that violated norms against war as in instrument of policy, norms that had acted as an admittedly grossly imperfect yet still functional immune system for the international body politic. I still feel ashamed and angry that the UK's Labour Prime Minister went all in on this war.</p><p>What is happening today has deeper roots than the character flaws of some current leaders or an upsurge of populism post 2008. While this sketchy approach has echoes of the Iraq ('dodgy') Dossier, it's reflecting a realpolitik that sees both AI companies and rhetoric about AI as incredibly powerful at the current moment.</p><p>This is perhaps the hole that AI fills for the Labour government; having long abandoned any substantive belief in the transformative power of socialism, it is lacking a mobilising belief system. At the same time, it's obvious to all and sundry that the status quo is in deep trouble and that being the party of continuity isn't going to convince anyone.</p><p>Ergo, the claim that AI has the power to change the world becomes a good stand-in for a transformative ideology.
