Your inner critic is the customs officer between ideas & actions. The one stamping "DENIED" on half your inspirations before they ever hit the conveyor belt. A necessary evil like brakes on a runaway train, except when the critic mutates into a petty tyrant. And what mutates the critic? Media. A 24/7 intravenous drip of other people's thoughts.

Consumption is the fuel for this mutation.

#Black enough. I was told as a child I wasn't and, having lived most of my life in middle class #white or mixed neighborhoods, in the estimation of most #US #Americans, I'm not because to be considered authentically Black in this #racist nation is to be solely of the #ghetto, of abject poverty, misery, and poorly educated.

Yet I am Black; enough!

A #film #critic advises reading the #book, #Erasure, before seeing #AmericanFiction:

Given that #Oppenheimer begins by showing the murderous villainy of which he was casually capable, for a #film #critic to miss that blatant #exposition and the other clear evidence (philanderer, adulterer, neglectful parent) of Oppenheimer's deeply flawed human character such that the critic was confused by the ending on first viewing in the way this re-review states, to me is yet another shameful example of the presumption of #white (male, in this instance) innocence.
