Cindy Sue<p>I am guessing most of us remember Amelia Bedilia. I know I read her picture books as a kid. Well, the early chapter book series began in 2013. My kids never got into them when they were little and for some reason I never picked any of them up. </p><p>I got a box set of the first four books in the series awhile ago and decided I needed something silly to read. I have read the first two books tonight and they are a joy to read. Mariam al-Masri<p>This MMC in the book I'm reading is so creepy. I love it. He smiles just to hold power over people. Reminds me of my MMC for my WIP. I really do think this needs to be a trope. Annie Hsh 👾🖖☕<p>Just finished reading 'L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future, Volume 41', an anthology of short stories and illustrations introducing new artists and writers of fantasy and science fiction, and I have to say, I really loved this book, both as a concept and as a read. What great idea and a clever way to help new talent and introduce their work to a wider audience. The stories most certainly did not disappoint either.</p><p>A big thank you to BooksGoSocial for the early copy. The anthology will be coming out on April 22, 2025. piebob ✨<p>in case <a href="https://metasocial.com/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> fans don't know this is an option: i recently (about 2 months ago) switched to&nbsp;getting my ebooks from <a href="https://bookshop.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">bookshop.org/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>&nbsp;vs amazon/kindle and it's working pretty well for me. the android app initially had an annoying bug where it wouldn't keep my line leading settings, but that's been fixed, and they're definitely actively developing it. give it a shot! <br>i do wish there were an integration with app.thestorygraph.com like there is between kindle and goodreads, though.</p>

Furthering<p>The last part of the book Talk: The Science of Conversation and the Art of Being Ourselves discusses conversations between people who may not agree. Other books have tackled this subject at length, so I won’t rehash the ideas here. </p><p>While some of the ideas in the book aren’t new (to me), I think they could be applied to collective benefit, both in person and on social media. Less one-upmanship, fewer “gotcha” questions, less correction, less ego. Furthering<p>I finished the book Talk: The Science of Conversation and the Art of Being Ourselves by Alison Wood Brooks. I love the topic about how to communicate well with other people – it’s an art that we can cultivate to our own and others’ benefit. MikeDunnAuthor<p>Today in Labor History April 2, 1840: Émile Zola, French novelist, playwright, journalist was born. He was also a liberal activist, playing a significant role in the political liberalization of France, and in the exoneration of Alfred Dreyfus, the Jewish army officer falsely convicted and imprisoned on trumped up, antisemitic charges of espionage. He was also a significant influence on mid-20th century journalist-authors, like Thom Wolfe, Truman Capote, Hunter S. Thompson, Norman Mailer and Joan Didion. Wolfe said that his goal in writing fiction was to document contemporary society in the tradition of Steinbeck, Dickens, and Zola.</p><p>Zola wrote dozens of novels, but his most famous, Germinal, about a violently repressed coalminers’ strike, is one of the greatest books ever written about working class rebellion. It had a huge influence on future radicals, especially anarchists. Some anarchists named their children Germinal. Rudolf Rocker had a Yiddish-language anarchist journal in London called Germinal, in the 1910s.
