They said this wouldn’t work but it bloody well does! Just three more digits to solder up (161 individual LEDs!) and I’ll have a clock!
I’m so glad it does work though because I ordered two hundred of these pcbs
Last night the band Stealing Sheep joined us for a special #JoyRide listening party. We played their new album on the soundsystem and everyone decked their bikes out in colourful LEDs (inc. lots of @MCQN_Ltd's My Bike's Got LED kits )
They performed from the back of the trike and livestreamed it to their socials (sadly they're not on the Fediverse)

Whelp dang
After far more years than a #Govee strip had any business surviving, the fancy LED lights on my bike "Himin Hestur" gave up the ghost.
BUT what this means is, it's time to rebuild, to improve, to expand. I can acquire the parts needed, the LED strip, the WLED controller. I can learn soldering and WLED programming.
The former strip had something like 20 or 30 LEDs to the meter. I can get one with 60 or more!
Stay tuned if you want to follow the adventure, granted it will be slow going for now. Gigs musical and actorly are in the way a bit rn

I've used one of the XAIO S3s for ESPHome and FastLED/PlatformIO so far. Gonna try WLED next.
And I've read 30-40 pages of the S3 data sheet. What a chip!
@hackaday here's another recent collab with Allie (@faetea on IG): a light up cloud! Illustrated by her in the style of Japanese Zuiun clouds, it's supposed to feel light and airy or dark and moody depending on how it's lit.
It's lightweight and portable too. Made with two layers of CNC cut coroplast, light block vinyl, and an aluminum frame, it comes apart in two pieces for transport. I'm driving it with #WLED

Ein weiteres (wirklich kleines) Projekt: Ein Teil der LED Leiste an der Kücheninsel zeigt jetzt immer den aktuellen Ladestand unseres #eauto an. Voller Balken entspricht 100%. Realisiert mittels #wled "Percent" Effekt und passender #homeassistant Automation.
In diesen kleinen Dingen spielt ein #smarthome m.E. seine Stärke aus: Unaufdringliche Präsentation von Information, die man regelmäßig benötigt und für die man sonst mühsam das Tablet oder Mobile herausholen muss.
A nice end to the working year.
Today some 22 ohm 0402 resistors turned up and I replaced the incorrect ones on the USB data lines on our My Bike's Got LED prototype boards.
With those two components replaced, the ESP32C3 could see the laptop's attempts to talk to it, and replied.
I can now flash code onto it over USB!
With USB PD support, it's easy to plug the board into a USB C laptop power supply that can provide 20V at up to 5A - even though it's under 24V, we've found the LEDs are just as bright. Looks great, we're going to keep testing and get these boards ordered, hopefully before the year's end!

We have a string of LED pixels on the table, and an LED strip (2x 5m) hanging from a rope. The rope is tied to @bornhack 's projector screen on one end, and the far end of our table on the other.
We also have some messages printed with a receipt printer which hang from the LED strip.
Everything 12V and fully addressable, running of of two #QuinLED Unos running #WLED
Instead, you can use the open source and free xLights software (https://xlights.org/) which is completely amazing and has a learning curve like a cliff for the first 30 minutes. BUT once you get your controller and layout, it's unbelievably powerful and actually kinda easy to get going with simple display work. It also has a very satisfying preview mode.
