Warm and rainy weather again today here in the #Boston area. It promises to return to “ normal” over the weekend, which is depressing as hell. I doubt we will get out for #walkies today. So that means another perfectly dull day, I guess. We will probably at least have our usual Thursday night out at the Chinese restaurant.

I did get in plenty of reading last night. I bought a book light, and it really helps. Between my aging eyes and the LEDs in my bedroom lamp, it was hard to read at night. I finished Kate Atkinson's Case Histories last night and have started on The World in Books: 52 Works of Great Short Nonfiction by Kenneth C. Davis. Because of #walkies yesterday, I am nearly finished with Megan O'Keefe's The Blighted Stars on audiobook.

Speaking of hockey, it went pretty badly. Although we did battle back from a 6-0 deficit to tie it, we lost late on a shot from the point that curved around me. One goal came from behind me, hitting the knob of my stick and going in. Ugh. I hope the rest of #today goes better. I'm trying to stay optimistic I don't have to go anywhere or do anything by staying in my sweatpants, but I may be pushing my luck. It's supposed to rain all day, so probably no #walkies either.

Gorgeous weather #today so despite a compressed schedule, I still should take the #dogs for #walkies. I bought new sneakers, so I need to get them broken in. As a friend called them, these white #Nike Air Monarchs are the "daddest dad shoes that ever dadded" I'm hoping they make enough progress on the deck that we can use the back slider once again. I should take the #EV6 for a car wash and maybe grab a quick burger for lunch. Then it's time for #BaldursGate 1.

For #today, we are having our regular #BeerDads meeting at a local pub that is featuring lots of great sounding #Oktoberfest beers, so that should be fun. Great weather continues, so I should get in some #walkies. I should probably get out sooner rather than later, as it is supposed to warm up into the 80s (29.5⁰C). Obi is still a little slow walking but his appetite is back, so that's good. Hope they can work on the deck today. Progress has slowed to a crawl, which is annoying.

I was hoping to let my wife drive in #today but no, I have more errands to run. Even she was disappointed, which is a good sign. I have to deliver the #gecko to @adrienne. I will also take the car to get washed. That pine pollen is so gross. And the #doggos missed their #walkies, so I need to do that as well, although it is already 80F (26.67C). They don't like it when it is hot. Nor do I!

So to celebrate, #today I took my first mountain bike ride of the season. Heck, I don't think I got out on it at all last year. In fact, according to Runkeeper, I haven't been on it since June of 2022! Mostly because I feel bad if I ride instead of taking the dogs for a walk. I don't have the energy to do both. It was just a short loop thru the Fells but it felt good. Maybe I can work up the energy for #walkies later. The weather is certainly nice enough.
