Weeds - "We need to go and make sure you can't buy them anymore."

The ecological damage already caused by weeds that had 'escaped' household gardens was tiny compared to the potential threat posed by plants sold at gardening retailers.

"We've introduced so many plants into Australia now that, when you go for a walk in your local bush, one in eight of the plant species you see there have been introduced. At least three-quarters of weeds established in the Australian environment have come from escaped garden plants, according to a 2004 report by biosecurity strategist John Virtue."

I see how it goes. When #China or #SouthKorea or other countries are concerned about #FukushimaDaiichi "treated" #RadioactiveWater #dumping and call into question #TEPCO's data, it's #propaganda against #Japan -- forgetting the FACT that #TEPCOLies -- and has been LYING for YEARS! Not sure why either #IAEA is believing TEPCO or maybe is complicit in hiding the data? Something's fishy (pun intended)!

"When we think of colonialism, slavery, and feudalism, we perhaps envisage these subjects as elements of our history: abhorrent, destructive, and with lasting repercussions - but essentially something in our past which we must recognise, address and account. What we perhaps don’t think of is the food on our plates, the clothes we’re wearing, or even the phone in our hands.

"In our global economy, however, #SupplyChains hide a magnitude of #HumanRights abuses and #EnvironmentalDestruction, including #ChildLabour, slave labour, resource depletion, toxic #dumping, illegal #deforestation, corporate threats, the murder of #LandDefenders… amongst many other social and #ecological atrocities.

"But what does this have to do with colonialism? When it comes to consumption and the material objects which occupy our daily lives, people are increasingly talking about the hidden cost, or the true cost of things. We often see that it is communities and peoples in the so-called #GlobalSouth who are bearing that true cost. It is not by coincidence that economic globalisation, the inevitable consequence of capitalism, leads to more destruction in nations which have historically been colonised, marginalised, and labelled as ‘developing’ countries. This is because the ostensible ‘success’ of both capitalism and colonialism hinges upon exploitation."

Dumping of cats and dogs a danger to native wildlife

"Cats not accepted at RSPCA NSW shelters for another month amid vaccine shortage. The decision has prompted concern that the illegal dumping of unwanted animals could increase. Invasive Species Council conservation officer Candice Bartlett said a rise in feral cat populations could have devastating impacts on native wildlife...Each year in Australia, cats that are allowed to roam kill 323 million native animals."
