States defying #Trump anti-#DEI deadline risk losing education federal funding

The #NAACP and the Legal Defense Fund have filed "a federal lawsuit blasting the Trump administration for a 'legally flawed' interpretation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964."

Story by Mabinty Quarshie, Washington Examiner, April 22, 2025

Excerpt: "In total, at least 16 states and Puerto Rico intend to sign the certification, according to Education Weekly, while 16 states have declined to sign.

"Many of the states that have flat out refused to sign the order by citing their commitment to DEI policies are led by Democratic governors.

"Among those states are New York, the first state to publicly thumb its nose at the certification request, Colorado, Washington, Minnesota, Oregon, Wisconsin, Vermont, and Utah, with the latter two states having Republican governors.

[...]

"In Fiscal Year 2022, federal funding accounted for 14% of K-12 education funding. State and local funding provided 87% of K-12 funding.

"In fiscal 2024, the Department of Education spent $18.8 billion for schools with large numbers of #poor, neglected, delinquent, and other '#EducationallyDisadvantaged' students, as well as $55 billion in COVID-19 grants to #PreK programs, elementary, and secondary schools, according to Pew Research Center.

"Should the Department of Education strip states of federal funding, it could force cuts during the 2025-2026 school year."

Willkommen in unserer Welt.

Please help trans kids in New Hampshire.
There is no logical reason why puberty blockers would be safe for someone with precocious puberty, but dangerous and illegal for a trans youth.

There’s no logical reason why breast implants are just fine for a 16-year-old cis youth, but dangerous and illegal for a young trans person.

If we’re going to pretend that these medical interventions are dangerous and unnecessary why are we allowing some children to get them? When this was heard in the house committee people brought this up and it was never addressed. No one answered these questions.

Maybe when it’s heard in the Senate they will, except they can’t because it’s bullshit.

You can go online and oppose these at any point up until 11:59 PM on Wednesday, I’ve been told it’s more effective to get it in there before the hearing, but if you do that you can’t address some of the nonsense they say in the hearing. So sometimes I like to wait.

Please help. THE PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THE SENATE SITE ARE NOT AS ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC AS THE HOUSE, BUT BE CAREFUL. There is a way for the public to see them, I don’t know how to do it and I think it involves specifically asking for it. But the weirdos might do that so be careful.

Edited to add the link to the YouTube channel, in case anyone wants to watch their nonsense so they can come up with specific rebuttals:

#Maine takes #Trump administration to court in first lawsuit over #TitleIX dispute

The lawsuit, filed Monday by Attorney General Aaron Frey, challenges the U.S. Department of Agriculture's decision to halt federal funds over Maine's policy regarding #TransgenderAthletes.

April 7, 2025

"Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration Monday challenging the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s decision to withhold federal funds over Maine’s policy allowing transgender athletes to compete in girls high school sports.
Frey’s office said funds withheld by the administration are used to feed children in schools, child care centers and after-school programming, as well as disabled adults in congregate settings.

"It is the first lawsuit to result from the Trump administration’s actions targeting Maine over trans athletes.

"'Under the banner of keeping children safe, the Trump administration is illegally withholding grant funds that go to keeping children fed,' Frey said in a written statement. 'This is just another example where no law or consequence appears to restrain the administration as it seeks capitulation to its lawlessness. The President and his cabinet secretaries do not make the law and they are not above the law, and this action is necessary to remind the President that Maine will not be bullied into violating the law.'"

by Daniel Kool, March 28, 2025, 5:49pm

"The federal Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights referred Maine to the Justice Department for enforcement of what it alleges are Title IX violations stemming from allowing transgender women to compete in women’s sports.

"The office announced the referral in a post on social media shortly after 5 p.m.
'HHS will continue to protect women’s sports and keep the promises of Title IX for America’s women and girls,' the office said.
