I don't create "follow Fridays"*, but I do like pointing out someone now and then that I truly appreciate.

One is @MichaelWhelan If you've been a long-term reader of science fiction books, you've probably seen his art on many covers. He posts various tidbits about the art along with images of the originals and the progressions that they made.

I love the art and the stories. Many of the pieces he's posted about I have on covers in my collection. It's really great stuff, and I wanted to share with everyone.

So, this is moving forward. Part three of #TheHungarianSoprano has been added to the free EPUB.

Now I would like to humbly ask for opinions/expert advice from the #lgbtqia community.
It's hard to write without wondering whether you've been careful enough to honor a character.

This third part deals with exile, rights, resilience, prejudice, and fanaticism. The action takes place in Brazil.
Hope the translation captures the original spirit of the writing.

This #easter2025 , following the sharing momentum I'll leave here the second part of my 2021 book The Hungarian Soprano (English translation, historical fiction).

It has been fully crafted using #FOSS and will keep translating it as a humble contribution to the entertainment of our fediverse community.

EPUB-formatted and distributed with an accessible font developed by the Braille Institute under a CC license. The first part is already included in the file, but there are still five to go.

Finished "The Sleepwalkers, How Europe Went to War in 1914" by Christopher Clark.

This was a hard to read, because it's 550 pages of pre-1914 politics that led to the war.

Politics is not my favourite thing, especially in this case as like the author calls them, the sleepwalkers out of their personal & national pride & ego led people to a horror that continued again in 1939 because of their decisions.

I liked The Guns of August better.

This made me laugh out loud and teary-eyed. Such a beautiful book on what it means to be human--to fail, to hope, to love, to hurt, to forgive. It's one of those books that I can't put down, but I also had to pace myself because I didn't want it to ever end.

(Lennart is definitely one of my fave characters. Never fails to crack me up every single time he appears in a scene! And then there's Eve and Estelle. ❤️)
