#BikeStreak Day 75:
I awoke early and saw on the radar the snow was about to start. As I had a couple essential items needed, I decided to dress quickly and jump on my #ebike to go to the grocery store before dawn and snow, for 6 miles. With the cloud cover it was still mostly dark. The wind was strong out of the Northeast and the temperature was falling. I guess our chance of more rain than snow is diminishing. It might be an interesting day given the blizzard warning.

#BikeStreak Day 71:
Back to reality. We had plummeting temperatures and increasing wind, so I went out before it could get worse. I rode my #ebike to Silver Lake and then Cascade Lake to see what our record warmth yesterday did to the lake ice, and the ice is completely gone. But the ride wasn't comfortable, as there was rain, then sleet, then light snow, and by the end my hands and feet were cold.
I think I'll just stay in and watch hockey this afternoon.

#BikeStreak Day 68:
With a forecast of sunny skies, warming temperatures and light winds, I decided it would an opportune time to haul my #bicycle to just over the Iowa border and ride the Wapsi-Great Western Line Trail. I am pleased with that decision. The trail was mostly clean and dry, just one segment still snow covered and unrideable, but that was the scenic route into Riceville, so I took the direct route instead. I saw Pheasants, Turkeys, Killdeer and heard lots of songbirds.

#BikeStreak Day 57:
Despite it being the first day of meteorological spring, we were back into winter weather as it was 19F (-7C) when I set off on my road #bicycle. I rode the #RochMN city trails and the Douglas State Trail to Douglas and back for 30 miles. But the stronger March sun kept me warm enough that I did not need heated gloves or socks; I would have on a cloudy day. Yesterday's strong winds took down a couple large limbs on the trails that will need to be remedied.

#BikeStreak Day 56:
The city in which I live, #RochMN , is amongst the windiest cities in North America. And today we have a wind advisory, with 25 mph sustained winds and even higher gusts. It only made sense to ride my #ebike , so I rode out to Cascade Lake and back for 20 miles. When riding the East side of Cascade Lake, I was leaning about 30 degrees just to keep upright with the strong side wind. It was sunny when I started, but mostly cloudy when I got home.

#BikeStreak Day 50:
After watching #mnwild win in OT, and with the temperature just under the freezing mark, I set out for a #bicycle ride. But the front derailleur cable snapped almost immediately and I had to turn around and swap bikes. I ended up using my road bike to ride #RochMN city trails and some county roads for 30 miles. It was nice not having to use battery heated socks or gloves, and using my regular bike helmet instead of ski helmet and goggles.

#BikeStreak Day 46:
After it bottomed out at -17F (-27C) here overnight, by noon it had gotten to -1F (-18C) with a -18F (-27C) windchill, substantially warmer than yesterday. So I rode my #fatbike on the #RochMN city trails and around Soldiers Memorial Field for 11.4 miles. When facing the NW wind with the sun at my back, it was almost brutally cold; but when I turned around, it got a lot more pleasant, and I actually had to turn down the heat on my electric gloves.

#BikeStreak Day 45:
If it wasn't for the streak, I'd take the day off. Instead I rode my #fatbike around the neighborhood for 2.2 miles in the coldest windchill I've ever ridden, -9F (-23C) air temperature with 15 mph winds for a -31F (-35C) windchill. If you add my bike speed (8 mph) when riding into the wind it was closer to -35F (-37C) windchill.
I'll wait until tomorrow afternoon to ride again, it is supposed to be -1F (-18C) and -16F (-27C) windchill by then.
