I'm wondering: #physics makes a lot of use of #periodic functions, in particular it is very useful to solve space-dependent equations in representative volumes with #periodicBoundaryConditions.

However I've only seen it done with periodicity along orthogonal directions, aligned with a Cartesian frame.

Do you know of work, e.g. #PDE resolution, in nonrectangular #periodicDomains? E.g., in a #tiled hexagon? (but with a sufficiently generic setting, not exploiting regular hexagon symmetries) Even better if the periodicity parameters themselves are among the unknowns.

(Maybe I'm completely missing something obvious there, I'm in my first steps towards defining what I want - any random thought on the topic highly welcome!)

#tiling people?

Oooh, the new #Tiled version has some very nice features!

Aseprite Image Support

Tiled now supports loading Aseprite images directly. Aseprite is a popular editor for pixel art. This means you can now use .ase / .aseprite files in your tilesets, without needing to export them to PNG or other common formats first.

Tiled · Tiled 1.11.1 ReleasedApart from fixing a number of issues in Tiled 1.11, this release adds support for loading Aseprite images, brings a few scripting API additions as well as a small AutoMapping improvement.

"It's how people in these parts induce a trance," the guide said. "Each village has a hall #tiled in a tessellating pattern. You enter, walk the pattern, and--well, do you want to try?"

Helen was eager. The pattern was twisting, interlocking stairs. Helen started on brown tiles, then realized she was on white, and then--

it was like the ground melted away--she was floating.

She swam languidly to the exit.

"What did you think?"

But Helen was too dazed to reply.

In the #tiled discord it was suggested I contribute to the codebase by writing an additional export format.

The aspie who blabs nonstop said would "definitely save time, and your hard drive too by using one write instead of two"

I already have a tool that handles conversion. I've had it for years.

This is what open source really looks like: you are berated until they realize they really do have a bug, then they tell you to fix it after calling you incompetent. #opensource #coding #gamedev

Random #webdev #gamedev thoughts for today: I started coding up a #Tiled TMX exporter for the map Etrian Map Maker makes. Turns out I also need to generate a dummy tilemap so the export file is at least self-contained.

Now that I think about this, why *didn't* I write this project as as a Tiled plugin back then? Oh well. At least I get to learn more about TMX and TSX files by writing the generator.

A Night in the Park – mein geplanter Beitrag zur Kenney Jam 2023
