@cliffwade Totally, the fan thing was a selling point for me too (the other docks lift the #Mac on a little ledge for that purpose which is cute but.. meh 🤷‍♂️). I have two (1tb and 2tb) external nvme drives connected right now, but I think I'll install the 2Tb directly into the dock. Will likely buy one later today, can always return later if any buyer's remorse. Thanks for the summary!

@fabio seriously, WTF is wrong with #Canon?

  • Don't they know that they artifically kneecap themselves as noone's gonna buy that shit nor will it increase sales of their C-Series Movie Cameras?

Cuz even my first digital camera, a shitty "Polaroid ION 210" let me use it as a #Webcam and it even included a #Dock to do so without having to have a #battery inserted (it could also charge the battery and also had an extra slot for a replacement battery) that doubled as a USB Hub and SD-Cardreader!

  • #DRM and other bs is just bad, espechally on #appliances that are exensive, have no business to be connected to the Internet nor any valid reason to require a #subscription!

You know what a #DSLR & #DSLM should need to keep working? Toolfree, user-replaceable memory and batteries and a power source to get the latter recharged or powered!

The storm last week caused surprising damage to the dock where I'm moored.

Both sides of the dock have pontoons along its entire length. Each pontoon accommodates two boats.

In the photo, note the large gap. The white bar shows where an entire steel-framed pontoon used to be. It broke off during the storm. The force of the wind against its boats pushed, bent and snapped the pontoon off the dock.
