Slightly different walk this evening than usual forest or loch side walk with unfit giant senior dog. He was more enthused than usual, jumping drainage ditches (which his joints will let him know later was a stupid thing to do). Waking over at Stockton today I noticed this spectacular leafy plant in a front garden. Apparently it's called Codiaeum variegatum. The colours were so vibrant under the strong sunlight today - very pretty

Knee is getting better but still painful. I’m so annoyed as this week was supposed to be my solo hike/walk time and I only managed about an hour and a half. I hope my knee is at least good enough on Monday for my husband and I to bike a loop in the New Forest. I’ll be renting an electric bike so it shouldn’t be too physically demanding for me.

It was a gorgeous spring day today in SE Massachusetts! I took a nice long walk along the #CapeCod canal all the way to the end of this jetty that lines the entrance to the canal from the ocean. Looked for whales that had been active here lately, but no sign of spouts. Maybe they've just moved on to another spot. #FootpathFriday #ocean

I was all excited to learn about this national footpath I grew up on. But then I realised I didn't grow up on the Pennine Way, but the Trans Pennine Trail.
Oh well, time to recontextualise my childhood. Again.
I've started walking south of the Tyne with some friends who live in Yorkshire, today's walk was great but the highlight undoubtably fantastic views of 4 black grouse on an inbye field. They looked like they were lekking, flashing tail feathers and wings, but I thought they only did that at dawn?
