La municipalité de #Montrouge a démarré la rentrée par les travaux d’un #parc en centre-ville. Ce conflit local d’aménagement soulève des enjeux de démocratie locale et de protection de la biodiversité en ville. Un projet à la nécessité contestée, qui provoque l’émoi des riverains.

Cela m'a pris pas mal d'heures de travail, mais je suis fière d'avoir contribué parallèlement à #OpenStreetMap (#OSM) et à #WikimediaCommons en y ajoutant les #sculptures installées dans le #parc devant l'Eglise de #Giubiasco (#Bellinzona).
Je ne comprends pas, par contre, pourquoi il n'y a aucun site web qui fait la promotion de ce #patrimoine artistique...

The article "SPACEWAR: Fanatic Life and Symbolic Death Among the Computer Bums" by Stewart Brand of Whole Earth Catalog fame, with photos by Annie Leibovitz, was published on the Dec 7, 1972 issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

It covered hacker culture in the Bay Area, mostly at Stanford and Xerox PARC. The article made PARC widely known, contributed to its myth, and caused some consternation among Xerox management.

Approaching and using the Medley Interlisp environment made me curious about Xerox PARC, as well as the technologies and systems developed there.

To learn more I read the classic book "Dealers of Lightning: Xerox PARC and the Dawn of the Computer Age" by Michael Hiltzik (Harper Collins, 2000). This history of the golden era of PARC covers also technologies whose PARC origin is little known.

The handsome bandstand in Saughton Park walled gardens was birthed in the Lion Foundry, not far from where I grew up, and where some older relatives had worked.

Delighted to see it restored & looking beautiful to all who promenade there, a tribute to the men who sweated out the work of a now long-gone foundry & were rightly proud of their hard work.
