The Mint Julep is traditionally made with fresh mint leaves, bourbon whiskey, and a touch of sugar.
The mint leaves are commonly muddled in the bottom of a glass to release their aromatic oils and then combined with bourbon,
creating a refreshing and slightly sweet flavor profile.
The Mint Julep is often served in a silver or pewter cup, filled with crushed ice, and garnished with a sprig of mint.
This cocktail is a staple at the #KentuckyDerby and is known for its ability to cool and refresh on a hot summer day.

At first I thought these were Bisa Butler quilts, but they aren’t — they’re Eugene Poole Jr. quilts and they are amazing!

I know the history of Black jockeys comes up around Derby time every year, but what this man is creating to celebrate their legacy is incredible

Eugene Poole Jr. said he became a bit of a historian during his work as he tries to accurately depict the people he quilts.

I didn't watch it live and know nothing about the horses in the race but the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby was a 3 way photo finish with a 18-1 long shout -- Mystic Dan -- winning the race by a nose.

You can watch the entire race here:

The announcer blew the call naming another horse in the lead at the turn before the straight away to the finish & only figured out that Mystic Dan was in the lead until he broke away out in front beyond the turn.

Mystic Dan faded and was lucky to get the win, holding off betting favorites Sierra Leone (3-1) in 2nd and Forever Young (7-1) in 3rd.
