Can't believe I didn't post this. The other day I went back to Joann and they were only selling fabric by the bolt. I got everything in this pic plus a few bolts you can't see, and velcro, and ribbon, for about $35.

I'm working on redoing my husband's wedding expo photography booth, so this came in handy! I'll miss Joann but I'm super excited about these deals.

Still super stoked about my $125 Cricut Maker bundle too.

Thought you might like to see how the quilted wall hanging is coming along. I'm tentatively calling it Tree of Worlds. It's about 4 feet square without the edging or hanging tabs.

All the appliques have been adhesed onto the panels, and all but the tree panel have also had the appliques tacked in with edge stitching to reinforce. I will get to that panel eventually...

Okay, seeing if I can get back into the streaming thing again.
I used to do a bunch of game streaming and I would like to get back to that, but today I'm trying something new and streaming from my new setup at my sewing table.

Join me for a hopefully chill stream for a couple of hours where I assemble some quilt blocks.

Weekend #FabricHaul -

My stash of bright greens was depleted, so I picked some up for a quilt planned later in the year

Got a tone-on-tone yellow modern floral for the back of #InarticulateSunflower (and a blue for the binding because it used up a lot of blues)

Found this honey seashell for the back of #InarticulateAnning. Really wanted a dinosaur print, but not many of those are yellow and Mary is the inspiration for "She sells sea shells by the sea shore;" I think it'll work

I'm doing some deep cuts over on my Pixelfed account - the last two quilts I've posted have been from 2010 and 2014 respectively. If you ever wanted to see how my style has (or hasn't) evolved over the years, there's going to be more older quilts posted there soon

A question for people who use Gutermann Sew-All polyester thread!

Gutermann make a recycled (rPET) version of this thread, and although I like the idea of this in principle (and have bought a lot of it since they brought it out), I’m finding that the quality is not always as good as the non-recycled version.

The rPET Sew-All seems much more likely to be brittle — breaking while in the sewing machine, and melting at a lower iron temperature during pressing. Every “bad” spool of Sew-All I’ve had has been the rPET version. (And this isn’t because I mainly use rPET and hence have sampling bias. I use both recycled and non-recycled Sew-All depending on where I buy it from.)

I’d be very interested to hear others’ experiences of this thread (boosts welcome).

Continued thread

Msg me if interested in any of these! I'd be thrilled to find some homes for them. Next person who orders one of these gets a FREE quilted tote bag right here, check it out, look how lovely and cool it is. A thank you gift for ordering that will be included! 💜 💚 🤍 ---

Tschilp! Upcycling.

At first I thought these were Bisa Butler quilts, but they aren’t — they’re Eugene Poole Jr. quilts and they are amazing!

I know the history of Black jockeys comes up around Derby time every year, but what this man is creating to celebrate their legacy is incredible

Eugene Poole Jr. said he became a bit of a historian during his work as he tries to accurately depict the people he quilts.
