On 18 May, the International Council of Museums will celebrate International Museum Day under the theme "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities." At the invitation of ICOM, Wikimedia CH's GLAM team will be providing communications support for this year's campaign. We are organising an online event that focuses on the role of museums not only as guardians of the past, but also as architects of the future.

ICOM-IMREC is proud to announce the publication of the final report on the research project examining public funding for museums.

This final report represents a complete study on the global state of public funding for museums. It offers a clear call to action for stakeholders worldwide to prioritize sustainable funding solutions.

"“I can guarantee you they were not our products,” the AP quoted Ray Novak, a senior sales manager for Icom America’s amateur radio division, as saying during an interview Wednesday at a trade show in Providence, R.I.

Novak said Icom introduced the V82 two-way radio model more than two decades ago and it has long since been discontinued. It was favored by amateur radio operators and for use in social or emergency communications, including by people tracking tornadoes or hurricanes, he said."

"Icom, a Japanese manufacturer of radio equipment, said in a statement on its website Thursday morning that it produced the IC-V82 handheld radio from 2004 to October 2014 and shipped it to overseas markets, including in the Middle East, during that period. But there had been no shipments since the model was discontinued about 10 years ago and the production of batteries to operate the unit had also been discontinued, the company said." #Icom #IcomV82 #Lebanon #terror #war #Israel #hamradio

The Icom IC-7000 I recently purchased is quite old and they’re known for having a bit of high frequency ‘hiss’ in the audio output.

I doesn’t matter while using the built-in speaker, however it gets annoying when using high quality headphones. There is a fix, but it’s complicated and involves extracting a major PCB from the radio.

I had some random two-way speaker filter in a drawer so decided to give it a go at reworking it, to become a 700Hz lowpass filter (I’m primarily a CW operator).

It turned out really nice, even peaks a bit before rolling off.

And the ‘hiss’ from the radio? Gone! 👍🏼😃

I have no idea what this is about and what triggered this individual. But I know for a fact that there are lot of people in our hobby who would be totally pissed, unhappy and upset by this video.
No tengo idea de qué se trata esto y qué desencadenó a este individuo. Pero sé con certeza que hay muchas personas en nuestro hobby que estarían totalmente enojadas, infelices y molestas por este video.
