As some of you might now, I am the chairman of Eurofurence, one of Europe's biggest Furry Conventions, which currently takes place once a year at the CCH in Hamburg. This is my keynote at our general annual staff meeting, and it's titled: "Awesome Leadership For Awesome Events".

The biggest challenge of a rapidly growing volunteer organisation is to ensure everyone's well-being and motivation. The key to achieving this is not just good management, but also good leadership. I will attempt to describe what that means, where the difference lies, and give some ideas how we can improve happiness and mental health through the principles of “positive leadership”.

I had less than one hour to get through all my slides, and I'm sorry that I really had to rush through a few of the topics to keep within my time limit. But even if I had a day, that still wouldn't do this topic justice. I hope it's still helpful to give some of you aspiring convention team leads a few ideas for further research. Enjoy!
