CNN will host a town hall with independent Vermont Sen.
#Bernie #Sanders
which will air at 9 p.m. ET on
Wednesday April 9

Sanders will answer questions from both Anderson Cooper and a live audience that will include a mix of Democrats, Republicans and Independents.

Sanders, a progressive who caucuses with Democrats, has been on the road to multiple cities in recent weeks as a part of his cross-country
“Fighting Oligarchy” tour,
alongside Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The senator has attempted to find a path forward as many Americans call for a stronger strategy from the Democratic Party to counter Donald Trump.

Yes, the oligarchs are enormously powerful. They have endless amounts of money. They control our economy. They own much of the media.
But, from the bottom of my heart, I am convinced that if we are well-organized, they can be defeated.

We all told you so about trump twice. The democrats decided it was more important to stop Bernie sanders than actually beat trump. The same thing happened with Claudia de la cruz & karina Garcia. Liberalism is about supporting fascism over anything remotely socialist or communist. #aoc #Bernie&aoc #BernieSanders support #genocidejoe #KopmalaHarris just #neoliberal sellout garbage. He could have been our #lenin but he just had to endorse Biden Harris Gross

Americans aren’t waiting for the Democratic Party to take on Trump

In February, anti-Trump demonstrations took place in all 50 states, part of the of 50501 movement (which stands for 50 protests, 50 states, one day).

On March 15, thousands of people marched in New York City under the banner of public employee unions against the Trump/Musk cuts to public services.

The arrest of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, a green-card-holding Columbia University graduate who played a prominent role in anti-Israel protests last year, has sparked an uproar over whether the Trump administration is violating the 1st Amendment by targeting immigrants for their political beliefs.

And God bless New York Rep. #Alexandria #Ocasio-#Cortez, 35,
and Vermont Sen. #Bernie #Sanders, 83, who are on the road in Western states with their
“Fighting Oligarchy” tour, which has drawn thousands of people to arenas this week in Arizona, Nevada and Colorado.

There’s more.
“Missing member” events, for example, where voters are holding their own town halls because their Republican members of Congress are too afraid to face them.

In some cases, constituents step up to a microphone and pose questions to an empty chair.

In Wisconsin, Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden did not show up at a town hall,
so a Democrat from a nearby district,
Rep. #Mark #Pocan,
came instead and spoke to 300 people next to an empty chair with Van Orden’s name on it.

Hundreds of healthcare workers demonstrated outside the Anaheim Hills office of Republican Rep. #Young #Kim the other day to protest expected cuts to Medicaid, the health safety net for more than 72 million low-income and disabled Americans.

And millions of Americans all over the country may answer the call on Saturday, April 5, for a
“Hands Off” protest organized by Indivisible,
the progressive grassroots group that got its start in 2017 when a handful of congressional staffers put together a handbook about peaceful, effective resistance to right-wing power grabs.

The “Hands Off” motto:
“They’re dismantling our country. They’re looting our government. And they think we’ll just watch.”

"Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the courage to brawl for the working class"
theguardian.com/us-news/2025/m

I take heart from this news for two reasons. First, I like #Bernie and #AOC. It's encouraging to see them on the road, speaking up, and finding supportive audiences, including working-class voters formerly on the blue team.

Second, every party undergoes a divisive internal debate after defeat. If the party was on the left, the question is: Did we lose because we were too centrist or too progressive? To win next time, should we tack further left or tack to the center? This debate is important, understandable, unavoidable. And at first the answer is far from clear. It takes time for the debate to clarify the issues, time for relevant data to emerge, time for new and old leaders to test the waters. The debate isn't settled by arguments and analysis. It's settled empirically when potential leaders on one side test the waters and find more support than potential leaders on the other side. That's what I see here. Bernie and AOC are testing the progressive waters and finding growing success.

What about centrist Dems? What are they finding? Maybe I'm missing something. I see centrist Dems being centrists, but I don't see them testing the waters for leadership, let alone with growing success.

The Guardian · Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the courage to brawl for the working classBy Lauren Gambino

“My hope is that the dam will break in terms of Dems going on the offense. We need to take the argument directly to the ppl.”
-AOC

#AOC & #Bernie finished off the 1st leg of their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. Events: >86,000 ppl turn out.

I’m glad to have good news for you today. I hope it provides you with a sense of relief & shows you there’re amazing people fighting the maga cult alongside us.”

Ppl stood up against #DOGE.

April 5: MASSIVE RALLIES are planned.
