@jwildeboer@wildeboer.net We used to do that on Twitter! A long time ago I wrote a thing cashed HashMoot that allowed you to tweet something (like a product name or service) along with a score ('marks out of ten', like 6/10) and the hashtag #moot, and they'd all be gathered into a database. You could search the database for a product, and it would average all the scores for that search.

It was neat. Nobody used it.

But every year we did repurpose it to score Eurovision entries. That was fun!

@neil A long time ago, I wrote a similar 'thing' for Twitter. It didn't catch on, but I thought it was interesting.

It was called 'hashmoot', and the basic idea was you could rate anything out of ten, in a tweet. Anything with the hashtag '#moot' and a marks-out-of-ten score would get added to the database.

Then on the web site hashmoot.com/ anyone could search and see the aggregated score of all ratings that matched the search.

It never caught on, and now there's no API to use.
