My ISP gave me an interesting scare a couple of minutes ago. As you know if you do not want to pay them for a permanent IPv4 address, which I consider obsolete networking, they remotely reboot your gateway device and assign it a random IP out of one of their IPv4 pools.

This time it didn't take the usual long 30 to 90 Seconds to reboot the device and transfer credentials to obtain the new IP.
The Gateway got in an infinite loop somewhere and I had to Power it off, then had to wait 90 seconds to power cycle it before it took 180 seconds for the device to finally get the new IP.

Someone screwed up the login sequences for the xDSL devices of which the hashtag is in the toot and now we as the paying customer again have to pay for it in wasted time.

Luckily this power cycling off xDSL devices occurs only once in 6 weeks and usually I do not use the internet at that point in time.

In case you are wondering my Gateway uses obsolete technology, is forcibly assigned by the ISP and it's also cursed with a extremely low transfer speed.

I just included a speedtest after first draft of this toot

As you can see the speeds here are so low the connection is virtually unusable for anything where you have to move a big bites of data. They still manage to extort more than USD 30 a month for this connection

"You are going to have not only a way station for astronauts, you are going to have an ability to do science around the year, even when astronauts are not on the Gateway. And if you want a more detailed answer than that, we'll get you the scientists and talk about the science."

Question to the experienced #Network #admins here, we are trying to replace our #gateway which was some kind of juniper model with a custom build #opnsense solution. So far the replacement was not working properly and the service provider is now blaming that the internet providers ONT (?) uses 1000 FX Full Duplex mode, although our new Opnsense is only able to use 2.5 gb.
I am not sure if that can really cause the issue we are having at the moment. But whats more important for me to know:

Some updates on my #Libervia work:

- Kicked off #email #gateway project (nlnet.nl/project/EmailXMPPgate) using IMAP/STMP. Basic gateway should be coming soon.
- Preparing next major release: web frontend design & internal improvements in progress. The release will be *huge*.
- Started new desktop frontend; more details to follow.
- Aiming to resume blogging and weekly videos this week, if time allows.
- Targeting a Libervia-based service by the end of the year.

The important lesson of the #migswitch ?

The #dumper tool.

Forget the card.
You can copy any #nintendoswitch game WITH certs via that wretched software...

The card is weird.

I got one cheap and tried if it works on my -forever offline-switch

It works.
Having an extra button to switch makes it easier..

___

But having the ability to copy your collection with that software (and a #vulnerable or #modded switch ?)

-THAT- is the real thing.

But the backup takes forever.
Even if you copy from cartslot to external SD

Only PLUS ?
I now can have a offsite copy of my -lemme check - 33 physical (soon 35 ?) Games.

Oh and:
Apparantly most don't matter to me.
I backed up like 10 and then lost patience.

This product is weird.
And I'm not sure for whom it is from.
If you thought you could "lend out" a game and play it yourself at the same time:
Better don't .

I dunno.

I'll shelve it as "collectors item"

#Nintendo will destroy the vendors and C&D the #migswitch team anyways.

Bascially the #worst #flashcard ever.
Even #gateway looked better (and trust me, it sucked.. )
