Proxmox VE 8.4 released on Debian 12.10 base with Linux Kernel 6.8.12, live migration support with mediated devices, API for third-party backup solutions, Virtiofs directory passthrough

Enough pieces arrived to bring the server online, it's operational, proxmox is installed, and it's joined to the (low-availability) cluster.

Figuring out how to passthrough an #AMD iGPU to a #Linux VM on #Proxmox is just..... something not within my capacity atm lol. Maybe someday if I happen to have an additional test hardware I could potentially fuck with without screwing my main environment, and if I manage that then I could update my #homelab wiki on how to do it. For now though, I think I can live without transcoding on #Jellyfin or #ErsatzTV :))
Finally got around to migrating my home server to #Proxmox, and chucking my docker containers in a VM while migrating to running everything in #Kubernetes.
...only to be reminded that the idiot who built my home server (me) only bothered getting 16GB of RAM. Doesn't really stop any of my plans, but feels a bit silly to have a Proxmox machine so limited by RAM.

It's possible you've not heard of #boxyBSD
I was lucky to get a TIL moment when @stefano boosted it's existence into my feed.
However you should know about it, learn something about the user perspective from proxmox in the process, while working with a boxyBSD VM.
Here are some nice screencaps of the boxyBSD site so you can ask nicely for a VM and learn to play with one of the *BSD flavours from a distance.
I'm sure you can duckduckgo the address of boxyBSD when you analyze the screencaps, right?
#bash #proxyLB #freeBSD #boxyBSD #sh #zsh #ksh #csh #netBSD #openBSD #POSIX #proxmox #loadbalancer
It has arrived. proxyLB v1.1.0 the loadbalancer for proxmox clusters. Instead of telling you the features of this major version I invite you to read about it yourself, download proxyLB then play with it.
As with any great Open Source project, this has grown out of a necessity that @gyptazy has for his other amazing project boxyBSD, which just needs a versatile tool like this.
Now go and play.
#bash #proxyLB #freeBSD #boxyBSD #sh #zsh #ksh #csh #netBSD #openBSD #POSIX #proxmox #loadbalancer
Even though it's April 1st, this is no joke - #ProxLB 1.1.0 is officially out!
ProxLB is an opensource, advanced and DRS alike open-source load balancing solution for #Proxmox clusters.
Thanks to my company @credativde, I have the opportunity to contribute to this project as part of our commitment to open-source innovation - even during work hours!
