More pasqueflowers from Wednesday's hike. In a few places they were even growing right in the trail. I'm forever amazed that these lovely flowers can bloom in such a dry area, especially in a year like this where we've had almost no precipitation all year.

Two pasqueflower buds, with pale lavender petals mostly closed but just slightly open. The stems are covered with fine hairs. There's a third pasque nearby that's smaller and doesn't have any petals visible, so it's either younger or past flowering.
