We’re exploring what a truly ethical, open, and human-centered social platform could look like — and your voice matters.

Whether you’re a creator, a casual scroller, or just curious about alternatives to Big Tech — we’d love to hear from you.

FREE LABOUR!!! #UX #c3ux #UXresearch #uxdesign

Looking for an UNPAID UX internship/apprenticeship.

By this I mean, I graduate as a UX designer soon. I’m lucky enough to be able to do unpaid work, to gain real life experience.

Whats in this for you, Senior UX designer?

- You can delegate any task to me, I will pay extreme attention to your instructions and try to give you exactly what you want

- I’m a ridiculously fast learner. Someone once said ”you’re not even an ’explain once’-student, you’re just kind of reading my mind. An ’explain 0 times type of student’”

- I want this to be valuable to you, more than it is to me; I want to take on the tasks that you find the least fulfilling.

What’s in it for me?

- If possible, I would love to shadow you and just kind of observe how/what you do. No need for me to ask you about it, I’d rather just observe your process.

- Getting insight into the industry right away while my knowledge is still fresh, rather than spend the first 6 months after graduation applying for jobs (and be competing with people with much more experience for those same jobs)

- learning workflows as they are in real life, in all of their imperfections, and how experienced UXers approach problems

Anybody else out there using #Linux as their everyday driver for #UX and #UXresearch work? Having just got a 'new' (refurbished Dell) laptop I've installed #Ubuntu - which I've been using for years for home use. But with more or less *everything* now cloud-based or available on linux (e.g. Figma) I can't really see any reason why not? Most of my colleagues are on Macs, so it's always cross-platform anyhow.
Are there any key 'killer' applications (it used to be the Adobe suite, but I haven't used that in years) that you can't run in linux? Thoughts?

(And before you ask - yes, I've used and very much appreciated, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, and other distros. I think they're all great.)

Arrrrggghhhh I just can't remember - what's the name/precedent for the UX design-research method where you basically test-with-n=1-and-tweak-and-test-with-n=1-and-tweak etc.

And no, I remember reading about it as a babby UX-er *before* Lean UX got cool so it's not that. I want to properly credit the designer or see if I can get hold of some methodology rigorising papers...

Ideaplatz · Lifting UX Design from the doldrums: four key craft improvements for your teamsBy Cheryl Platz

Users are like kids at Christmas. They say they really want this one thing, but that one thing won’t keep them happy for long.

What will make them happy? Solving their unspoken problems, the problems they can’t quite articulate. And the best way uncover them is to ask really good questions.

I wrote a 2 parts article for Condens on biases in user research in areas that don’t get enough attention: Part 1 focuses on biases with note-taking and data analysis. I talk about awareness, how they impact projects and mitigation strategies.
