New York — "Demonstrators from a Jewish group filled the lobby of #TrumpTower on Thursday to denounce the immigration arrest of #MahmoudKhalil, a #ProPalestinian activist who helped lead protests against #Israel at Columbia University.

"The demonstrators from Jewish Voice for Peace wore red shirts reading 'Jews say stop arming Israel' and held up banners as they chanted 'Bring Mahmoud home now!' on the lower level of the Fifth Avenue building's public atrium.

"After warning the protesters to leave, police said they arrested 98 people who stayed on various charges, including trespassing, obstruction and resisting arrest.

"Khalil, a 30-year-old permanent U.S. resident who is married to an American citizen and who hasn't been charged with breaking any laws, was arrested outside his New York City apartment Saturday and faces deportation. He's being held at an immigration detention center in Louisiana."

"Last Thursday, a squad of FBI special agents, assisted by local police, descended on #TrumpTower III at 15811 Collins Ave. to carry out a search of unit 4102. It’s owned by a similarly named shell company, MIC-USA LLC, that is controlled by two Russian businessmen, Patsulya and Agunda Konstantinovna Makeeva, according to state corporation records. Makeeva was not arrested in connection with the Justice Department’s crackdown.

"If convicted the two Russians faced up to 20 years in prison for violating the export laws and up to 20 years in prison for conspiring to commit international money laundering.

#Blanche, predictably, is blaming #AllenWeisselberg, fmr CFO of the #TrumpOrganization, for designing #MichaelCohen's reimbursements for the #HushMoney payment. Cohen had said that #Trump signed off on their payment scheme in a Jan 2017 meeting at #TrumpTower. Blanche got close to discussing that key testimony, but moved on.

There’s a lot about Weisselberg this morning. He’s currently in #jail for #perjury, & is one of a few people mentioned repeatedly who won’t testify.

3 months later, MichaelCohen was back in federal court to plead guilty once again. That time, he accepted responsibility for lying to #Congress about plans to build a #TrumpTower in #Moscow, #Russia saying he did so out of loyalty to #Trump.

His loyalty faded in 2018 when authorities zeroed in on Cohen, & Trump threw him under the bus. Cohen is now the star witness in this #criminal trial, which centers on a #HushMoney deal.
