Weiß jemand zufällig, ob und wie man unter #Android (15) #TTS so einstellen kann, dass es automatisch die Sprache des Textes erkennt und dann die entsprechende Stimme für sie Sprache wählt? Ich habe derzeit Stimmen für DE und EN heruntergeladen aber irgendwie setzt es die Stimme für DE als Default, auch wenn der vorzulesende Text EN ist. Aber das Ergebnis ist Denglisch und in den Einstellungen des Overlay kann ich nur Höhe und Geschwindigkeit auswählen. 🤔

Favorite thing lately is finding an article I wish were in podcast form, saving the text to a .txt file, then having TTS Util use RH Voice to convert the file into an audio reading, and listen to my own little robotic FOSS nanny read me the stories I want to hear in my headphones as I do yardwork.

In an email to workers at the agency’s #Technology Transformation Services, Thomas Shedd, a fmr #Tesla engineer who is now the division’s dir, said that #18F had been identified as noncritical & would be cut.

“This decision was made with explicit direction from the top levels of leadership within both the administration & #GSA,” Shedd said in the email…. He added that while no other #TTS programs had been affected, “we anticipate more change in the future.”

Text from article: More clown show breaking this afternoon out of TTS, the in-show tech consultancy housed within GSA. I told you last night that the new leadership had started firing people yesterday starting with a few dozen probationers — people in their first year on the job who are easier to fire under Civil Service law. But apparently the new bosses are still learning how to do things, most specifically, how to fire people. Yesterday the fired staffers found out about their terminations when they were summoned to hastily arranged meetings in which they were verbally told they were fired. But then people started to notice that the formal letters of termination they were told to expect weren’t showing up in their inboxes. And they couldn’t easily ask their supervisors what was up since their supervisors hadn’t been looped in on the fact that members of their teams had been fired in the first place. So what happened? It seems that the new bosses got down to firing people before they learned how you fire people. So, I finally hit the jackpot! Using the Tech Freedom TTS engine, set to use the eSpeak TTS engine, I have absolutely no lag where the TTS engine is concerned. Of course, TalkBack can still lag when swiping or scrolled, but I'm surprisingly getting used to that. So the issue I have with using Espeak by itself is that sometimes it'll switch dialects from US to UK English, and that is rather jarring to me. Also, I tried this other TTS engine on FDroid, which uses Piper voices, and it's far more responsive than the other one. That TTS engine is called SherpaTTS
