Yahoo News · Montana GOP Senate Hopeful Scrambles To Explain Public Lands PositionBy Chris D'Angelo

"The campaign of Montana #GOP Senate candidate Tim #Sheehy appears to have doctored a recent TV advertisement to remove a logo of the Property and Environment Research Center from the shirt he was wearing. PERC is a Montana-based think tank with a history of advocating for the privatization of federal public lands, which has become a central issue in the race."

"GOP Senate nominee caught using racist stereotypes at campaign events"

dailykos.com/stories/2024/9/4/

"Tim Sheehy, the Republican Senate nominee in Montana, has been caught using racist stereotypes to refer to Native Americans. Sheehy is a trust-fund cowboy whom Republicans recruited, thinking he was a great bet against Democratic Sen. Jon Tester...Before his leaked racist remarks, Sheehy was beset with problems, like allegedly defrauding his employees out of millions."

Daily KosGOP Senate nominee caught using racist stereotypes at campaign eventsTim Sheehy, the Republican Senate nominee in Montana, has been caught using racist stereotypes to refer to Native Americans. According to audio released last Thursday by Char-Koosta News, the news outlet of the Flathead Indian Reservation, Sheehy...
#GOP#Montana#Sheehy

#Tim #Sheehy, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Montana, made comments perpetuating #racist #stereotypes about #Native #Americans during private fund-raisers last year, according to recordings of the events published by a local news outlet late last week and obtained by The New York Times.

In one recording, Mr. Sheehy, a cattle rancher and businessman, can be heard saying that he had participated in roping and branding cattle on the Crow Reservation, in southeastern Montana -- and that it was “a great way to bond with all the Indians out there, while they’re #drunk at 8 a.m.”

In another clip, he said that he had ridden in a Crow parade, and that “they’ll let you know whether they like you or not, there’s #Coors Light cans flying by your head.”

Native Americans in Montana have been a key voting bloc for Sheehy's Democratic rival, Montana's current Senator, Jon Tester, who is in his third term,
but local Native American leaders say that Democrats cannot take their votes for granted.

Mr. Sheehy’s comments may have jeopardized his candidacy, said Alexandra Lin, a former member of the Montana Democratic Party who is Indigenous.

The New York Times · Tim Sheehy Was Recorded Using Racist Stereotypes About Native AmericansBy Kellen Browning

Montana GOP Senate candidate #Tim #Sheehy touts his business.
-- It’s losing millions.

As he campaigns in one of the nation’s most competitive U.S. Senate races, #Montana Republican #Tim #Sheehy recounts how he
started an aerial firefighting business in his barn
and built it into a publicly traded company on the front lines of increasingly dangerous wildfires.
“That’s a success story,” he said in a June television interview.

Reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in recent months tell💥 a different story 💥about Bridger Aerospace, known for its “Super Scooper” planes that can remove up to 1,400 gallons at a time from a body of water to dump on a nearby wildfire.

Bridger is facing a cash crunch so dire that 🔸there is “substantial doubt about the Company’s ability to continue,” 🔸according to public filings that show 👉 the company lost $77.4 million last year and $20.1 million in the first three months of 2024.

🔷Several directors have left, including one who flagged concerns about internal auditing, as an unusually slow wildfire season in 2023 put the company at risk of defaulting on its debt.

♦️And then last month, Sheehy said he couldn’t devote enough time to running the company and resigned
— a move that Bridger, which had promoted his key role in “every facet” of the business, previously said would happen if he was elected to the Senate.

Sen. #Jon #Tester (D-Mont.) is locked in a tight race in Montana as former President Trump boasts a wide lead over Vice President Harris in the state, polling shows.
A new Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey puts Trump-backed Republican #Tim #Sheehy with a 2-point lead over Tester, 48 percent to 46 percent. Another 5 percent were undecided.
♦️Tester is one of the most vulnerable incumbents this cycle, ♦️a rare Democrat holding office in a state Biden lost back in 2020, and 💥his race could determine which party ends up controlling the upper chamber.

The poll also marks a shift from March, when the same pollster found Tester up by 2 points over his Republican challenger.

Because the gap falls 🔸within the survey’s 3-point margin of error, 🔸the race remains a potential tie between the two Senate race rivals.

This week, Tester launched a
🌟“Republicans for Tester” 🌟group to rally support from across the aisle as he braces for a competitive November contest.

At the top of the ticket, Trump is a whopping 15 percentage points ahead of Harris, but the vice president’s 40 percent support is a notable 5-point improvement from the 35 percent President Biden garnered back in March.

which Zinke won by 3 percentage points.

Zinke is the favorite again, and the race is considered “likely Republican.”

Montana GOP Senate candidate says he lied to ranger about gunshot wound in 2015

#Tim #Sheehy, a former Navy SEAL who is the #Republican candidate in a U.S. Senate race in #Montana that could determine control of the chamber,
has cited a gunshot wound that he said left a bullet in his right arm as evidence of his toughness.

“I got thick skin — though it’s not thick enough. I have a bullet stuck in this arm still from Afghanistan,” Sheehy said in a video of a December campaign event posted on social media, pointing to his right forearm.

It was one of several #inconsistent #accounts Sheehy has shared about being shot while deployed.

And in October 2015, more than a year after he left active duty, he told a different story.

After a family visit to Montana’s Glacier National Park, he told a National Park Service ranger that he accidentally #shot #himself in the right arm that day when his Colt .45 revolver fell and discharged while he was loading his vehicle in the park.

The self-inflicted gunshot left a bullet lodged in Sheehy’s right forearm, according to the written description accompanying the federal citation that the ranger, a federal law enforcement officer, gave Sheehy for illegally discharging his weapon in a national park.

The citation said the description was based on Sheehy’s telling of events.

Asked this week about the citation, which has not been previously reported, Sheehy told The Washington Post that the statement he gave the ranger was a lie
