V. is away visiting #Funcik. Check out the weird happy grin he does when he's really excited. No, it's not a snarl, he's smiling - perhaps something he learnt from humans.

Meanwhile I'm using the opportunity to shift the furniture out of the living room, scrub the floors and then lay down that cheapest of carpets we bought a while ago.

An interim solution for X years until we get around to tearing up the floor and putting in a new one.

A few years ago, I photographed an abandoned #church in a quiet English market town. In 2022 it was tastefully renovated into a cosy holiday home. What are your thoughts on this? 💭

I often wonder—do you prefer to glimpse these places as they are in my images, frozen in time but forgotten? Or do you enjoy hearing tales of renovation and second chances (whatever those may be)?

Here are my #photos, from my 2020 visit.

Does anyone have recommends for book or website I can use to educate myself on options for upgrading a postwar bungalow from a gas furnace + AC to heat pump(s)? The book I have is OK for basic principles but I’m looking for more what units are available, cost, installation pitfalls.

I have asthma which is aggravated by the current system blowing dust around summer + winter. Primary motivation is comfort, better energy efficiency would be bonus points. #HVAC #HeatPump #minisplit #renovation

Good spot for a small sawmill?

Under the five oaks the predecessor planted 40 years ago.

Easy access with the tractor, can pull a log alongside and stack drying lumber in front where the wind ventilates it. Away from the house for noise and dust.

Maybe some point foundations to roll the beam onto. And need to pick a second good beam as the other one supposed to go here crumbled to bits.

The leaves might be a bit annoying in late autumn.

Heavy snowfall outside, so I worked on the bathroom a little.

Taking the toilet cubicle apart. We'll leave the toilet standing until spring when the outhouse gets a little less cold. Can't mix concrete in this weather anyways.

For some reason the cubicle was insulated, which makes no sense given that there's no heat source inside, not even a socket for an electric heater.

Some rockwool and thin OSB being reclaimed, and many screws.

Blogged: Photo Post - It’s been more than a month since my last proper #renovation update! We are still waiting on a few bits of furniture to arrive, but the internal work is now 90% done. Today the builders installed our new @vitsoe shelves! Now comes the fun of filling them. There’s also the new living room rug, as well as curtains throughout the house. The HVAC is up and running in the living room and bedroom, and our fancy lights are being installed. Most exciting web-goddess.org/archive/29523

Today's mission was a let down. Of this big old steel water tank. From its pedestal. With a rope.

It went well (sailors can rig anything) and I didn't get crushed flat. Luckily it was completely empty and bone dry, not having been used in a long time.

Then I cut up the pedestal and pulled some old pipe out of the wall that left a nice ventilation hole (which was promptly plugged, because it's cold outside).

Plotting a temporary solution for the drafty old floor. Drop some cheap carpet on it!

Astra sprouted new roof bars in preparation.

Next I need to find my cargo straps, scrounge up a 4m long stick as axle for the carpet roll and then find where to buy one of those truck pallet sized clingfilm rolls.

All before the cheap carpet deal disappears again 😬
