Kann mir jemand eine*n #Mail Provider*in empfehlen, die #nachhaltig, #datenschutz und #gemeinwohl orientiert sind?
Bei mir sind gerade in der Entscheidung um #googlemail endgültig zu löschen:
#posteo, #mailbox_org & #tutanota
Leichte Tendenz zu mailbox.org, weil mir #tuta für private Mails zu teuer, trotz konsequentem Datenschutz.
Kennt ihr noch andere sichere Anbieter*innen? Am liebsten mit Erfahrungsberichten. :)
I think a selfhosted mailbox like this is finally a viable way to archive my family's email. #Posteo only offers 1GB free and it gets more expensive then. And we have several mails there over that threshold. Same with the work email.
Tried isync/mbsync plus 
#gitAnnex for a while but man is mbsync weird. I need something that feels normal and easy, so e.g. my wife can search through old emails without doing terminal kungfu with git anmex and notmuch et al.

Kostet zwar 1 Euro im Monat, aber ihr wisst ja: "There is no such thing as a free lunch."
Bei #GMX gibt es die "Fun-Domains": man kann sich kostenlos bis zu 20 Email-Adressen bei sehr schrägen Domains anlegen (z.B. partyheld.de). Das nutze ich, wenn ich eine eigene anonyme Adresse für eine Webseite haben möchte.
Bei #Posteo fehlt mir sowas: es gibt zwar die Plus-Adressen, aber damit sieht die Webseite trotzdem meine "Basis-Email-Adresse", und könnte die mit anderen Daten verknüpfen.
Kennt ihr einen besseren Weg, um gute anonyme Adressen bei Posteo anzulegen?

I looked into this a few weeks ago, because I'm not comfortable on Gmail any more either. I like @tuta, but there doesn't seem to be a way to migrate my existing messages without paying €16/month (for the two of us) for more space than we need. If I needed that much space, I would accept the deal and move today. If I were sure I could import my email and then downgrade to the cheaper subscription that does all we need, I'd do that.
Posteo also looks good, and seems to be a very ethical, environmentally-conscious company, but the software proposition isn't as slick as Tuta's. That said, people on Fedi who use Posteo are delighted with it.

Boah was ist denn mit Posteo los? Weiß jemand mehr? Mich würde am meisten interessieren, ob das wohl bald wieder funktioniert. (ach ja: falls ihr versucht, mich per E-Mail zu erreichen - da ist gerade wohl was kaputt)

#Posteo add app passwords. Now it is possible to set #Thunderbird, #FairMail or any other nice desktop/mobile email client with an app password, and at the same time keep your password protected with two factor authentication to get into the webmail and the configuration of the account.
It was the only thing i was missing. I am quite happy at having opened a Posteo mail account. I am a bit stressed these days, but at some point I will describe it a bit more.

So, for private, encrypted email, I've been using #ProtonMail for awhile (hmm, actually, I've been there literally since they opened shop).
However, their recent nazi-esque corporate signaling has me shopping for a replacement.
I was already 90% on board with #Tuta ... and they are still good, no complaints. Among other things, they recently announced the first fully quantum-secure encryption protocol (like, the first of anyone, anywhere on Earth).
But I just looked at #Posteo and, damn, they're good, too.
Looking thru the feature list is just awesome. Even get free bike repair (wait ... what? Oh, for employees. Still, that's cool.)

@kuketzblog Die Hinweise, sich von den #USA-Techfirmen unabhängig zu machen finde ich sehr gut. Vieles konnte ich schon umsetzen, geht aber nicht von jetzt auf gleich. #WhatsApp bekomme ich so schnell nicht raus. Da hängen zu viele andere Menschen dran. Als Cloud-Anbieter habe ich Proton gewählt, wird aber in euren Hinweisen nicht aufgeführt (??). Mail schon lange bei #posteo . Kostet 1€ pro Monat. Das sollte drin sein. Umstieg von #apple auf andere problematisch. Bleibe dran.
Meine persönlichen Tipps für #UnplugTrump :
1. statt Amazon: https://memolife.de für nachhaltige/best-in-class Produkte. Für alles was es dort nicht gibt zur Not Otto.de oder vor Ort kaufen.
2. statt US-Cloud: Tresorit aus der Schweiz, mit so ziemlich der einfachsten Ende-zu-Ende Verschlüsselung die ich kenne.
3. E-Mail: #Posteo aus Deutschland
4. Bank: #glsbank @glsbank
5. Chat: @signalapp, @threemaapp
6. Social Media: #Fediverse (ok, das war klar

Many of us are migrating from US services to EU based ones, so I would like to give a warning, services like #mailbox and #posteo are great, very good value for money, based in Germany, private and secure, however there is a clause that can make you pause, if you fail to pay and don't do it within 30 days your account will be deleted.
From mailbox T&Cs | Cancellation policy
"Your account with mailbox.org is a prepaid account. If you do not deposit credit, or if the deposited credit runs out, then your account will be deleted after 30 days (Section 6 of our General Terms and Conditions). After another 30 days we delete all the Data that we stored for you (Section 5 of our General Terms and Conditions)."
It may not seem terrible, but if it is your main or only email account you may lose everything if you are unable to top up your account for some reason (like going on vacation to the US and being detained for no reason)
This is probably not an issue for many, but I think that it is something worth mentioning because some may not be aware while signing (although this bubble is likely to read the TOS in full) , services like #tuta and #protonmail at least have a free backup plan.

- E-Mail Konto bei #Posteo einrichten und Thunderbird als Client
- #Mullvad Browser verwenden
- Konten bei Social Media auf Minimum reduzieren
Noch bisschen was zu tun, wird aber langsam. #unplugtrump
