#Firefox on #iPadOS doesn't allow Ublock Origin, or any Ad-blocking extension. This is #Apple's policy. It's really a trashy-feeling experience, when you know how good the ad-blocking would be in other OS'. It feels ironic, compared to the excruciating efforts Apple puts everywhere else throughout #iPadOS, to make it into slower-moving eye-candy that exceeds its competetion.

I'll probably install #PiHole on a #RaspberryPi, but why should I have to clean up Apple's mess, just to get an experience that other OS' achieve much more easily?

Finally got round to setting this up. My router does not allow changing the DNS server address, but the DHCP server built into Pi-hole saved the day.

AdGuard 1.0 bringt DNS-basiertes Werbeblocking direkt auf Linux-Systeme – ohne GUI, nur über die Kommandozeile, dafür mit Abo-Modell. Das Tool funktioniert zuverlässig, bleibt aber proprietär. Für viele dürfte Pi-hole oder uBlock Origin die bessere und günstigere Lösung sein:

Zuerst stirbt eine #Festplatte in meinem #NAS. Zum Glück #RaidZ2. Ersatz bestellt, kommt morgen, dann etwas Zeit fürs wieder reinrechnen und es ist wieder gut.

Heute stirbt doch glatt mein lokaler Mini-PC und nimmt meine Home-Automatisierung und mein #pihole mit sich (und noch ein paar Dienste, aber die merkt man nicht so stark). DNS geht ja noch recht einfach umzubiegen (anderes Ziel in den DHCP Server eintragen, zack tun die Clients wieder).
#Homeassistant nervt viel dagegen viel mehr, wenn das weg ist. Das ist der Nachteil an einer Automatisierung, die was zentrales braucht. Wenn das weg ist, dann Mist.
(Weswegen im Hausbau dann auch #knx genommen wird, und nur "hübsche Extras" mit so nem Zentral Dings daherkommen werden.)

Nungut, hab ja noch nen Laptop. Also kommt die VM vom HA dann dadrauf. Muss nur erstmal die Daten dahinkriegen. Kostet Zeit, aber ist machbar.

Aber es nervt. Ich hatte anderes vor heute.

Man kann ja mit einem Pi-Hole die Werbung aus seinem Heimnetzwerk filtern. So wahrscheinlich auch die aus Youtube wenn ich das am TV gucke, oder?
Für gewöhnlich bastelt man das auf einen Raspberry und bindet das Ding vor seinen Router ein.

Kann man so einen Raspberry mit Pi-Hole fix und fertig irgendwo kaufen?

I recently changed to a fritz box router and pinole has decided not to work anymore...

Anyone got any ideas? I can access the web interface but DND doesn't work from at least some of my devices...

I'll probs be changing my pis which host all my services to use k3s soon so will probs reinstall OS then, in case that makes any difference.

The new router did change my gateway btw, I think all the devices use the correct one now though.

En une petite heure à tout casser j'ai renouvelé complètement mon installation de #PiHole sur mon #RaspberryPi
L'ancienne installation était trop ancienne et ne pouvait plus se mettre à jour, je devais actualiser l’OS installé (Raspbian) pour une version plus récente (RaspberryPi OS).

Après plus de 5 ans de bons et loyaux services en fonctionnement non-stop (toujours sur la même carte micro-SD), et après quelques manips, me voici sur un tout nouveau système.
