If you're voting in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, and you have no idea how to vote on everything else on the ballot but you're a Democrat or an independent voter who historically votes Democrat:
Excerpt: This week most of us were shocked by news that Oklahoma County will be suspending social services as of the end of October. This news was a surprise to, it would seem, most people in the state, including many county government officials.
The end of these services comes after a bill was passed last session (SB1931) that repealed statutes requiring social services to be provided by the counties and county commissioners across the state.
My comment: Marty Peercy has given us a heartbreaking read about the terrible humanitarian crisis that awaits us here in Oklahoma, thanks to the utter cruelty of the Oklahoma state legislature which has stripped our county governments of their obligation to provide the most basic of humanitarian social services to the public.
Oklahoma likes to claim that we have "the Oklahoma standard" (they even put the slogan on our drivers' licenses) but that is a cruel, cruel mockery of reality.
The reality is that most of our state's leaders hate poor people and want them to suffer and die. (don't believe otherwise - actions speak much louder than words)
There is a lot of blame to go around. I personally blame many of our churches and their leaders, who have failed in their duty to speak out against these draconian cuts to social services. But I also blame our corporate overlords, who could have used their voice and influence to stop this legislation but failed to do so.
The question remains --- how many people will die this winter from this law? It's not a question of if, but how many. That is what we are facing here in #Oklahoma.

The #OklahomaCounty ¹ jail continues to deny inmates of their basic #HumanRights --- in this case, though, the inmate in question had been found NOT GUILTY in court, yet was kept in jail for one more night.
¹ For out-of-state folks, I confusing live in Oklahoma City ( #OKC ), in Oklahoma County, and in the state of #oklahoma
The city, county, and state are all 3 different governments.
