V5.8.0 – If it’s on the Fediverse, you can embed it.

This update introduces two exciting improvements: brand-new email templates and personalized notification settings. Emails now deliver much richer content—mentions and direct messages include the full post, and the refreshed design feels modern and refined. Additionally, new follower notifications feature a profile card, making it easier to see who's interacting with your content. We've made several improvements around Embeds and Importing: Fediverse content embedding now has fallback […]

I'm wondering if there is a way to gather the notifications that arrive for various apps, and echo them in one preferred app, all within the device. A functionality that could added by installing one new app, with servers and apps otherwise working as normal.

I am very excited to listen/read this audiobook.

Funny thing, I put a onhold in the audiobook and the hardcopy version, and I got the notification that it was ready to borrow, I went to the library just to find out that the audiobook was the one it was ready, not the physical version. 🤷‍♂️

Is there a way to set up a service on a server that listens for incoming XMPP messages and forwards them via ntfy? 📡 My wife uses an iPhone, and unfortunately, she doesn’t receive notifications for group chats. 😅 Looking for a clever workaround to keep her in the loop! 💡

#SelfHosting community, how do you get notifications about your projects?

I'm setting up a couple of #BASH #Scripts to back things up and notify me about events on my #RaspberryPi, but I've hit some roadblocks. Here's my situation:

- I know #email is one option, but I'm not set up for it yet. My domain is on porkbun.com, but its nameservers point to vultr.com, where my #WordPress site is hosted. The Vultr server is managed by a friend, so I don't have access to add #DNSRecords for platforms like #Brevo. I've asked him to add the records but am waiting on that.

- I've been using a #Discord webhook, but I've run into issues with rate limiting when scripts send too many messages. Long messages also cause errors.

Now, I'm exploring other ways to send notifications. Does anyone have suggestions for reliable methods or tools that work well in self-hosted setups?

We need a "humans" mode in all the apps.

:thunderbird: Turn on "humans" in #Thunderbird and #Geary to only display emails from humans.
📞️ Turn on "humans" in #Calls to only list calls from humans
:xmpp: Tun on "humans" in #Dino or #Chatty to only list conversations with humans
:fediverse: Turn on "humans" in #Tuba to only display posts from humans

"Humans" are defined by your contact list. Bonus: make it global and have a system-wide toggle ✨

Did you ever get a reply to this? For many months now, maybe as far back as when you reported this, I've had trouble under Android where you coming messages do not get a badge on the Android desktop and do not make a noise.

I have relevant notification settings turned on in Megalodon, and when I first set it all up it did work with notifications. They just one day stopped, and I don't remember precisely when, nor do I know whether it was caused by Android or Megalodon.

When I have new or waiting messages, I cannot see the badge number on the desktop, nor does the arrival of new messages make a sound.

I hear incoming messages on my Linux desktop when operating inside a Chrome client, but the Megalodon client app on my phone used to get them, too, and now does not.

I now have a #CreditUnion savings and checking account here in #Albuquerque. The most fascinating part of the whole sign-up process was within 3 seconds of the branch manager pulling my #CreditReport I had two #email #notifications alerting me. One from #Experian (they pulled my Experian credit report) and the other from J.P. Morgan #Chase (one of my credit cards).

Honestly I had no idea that Chase was even monitoring my credit report in real-time.

Also interesting is that I've got a freeze on all my credit reports and yet it still went through....

Anyway......

Going to see about getting a drivers' license and registering my truck tomorrow.

EDIT: Nevermind I fixed it with swaync and an extra widget in waybar.

Dear human people and other animals, I need something to see my notifications in Hyprland that is not Dunst nor Mako

In particular I need notification history, easily accessible via icon.

Could you guys help with this? Gnome and KDE have this. Hyprland does not.
