One of my favourite things about being Australian on the internet is coming across comment threads on spider-related videos full of Aussies discussing their household huntsman spiders, and front-path orb weavers etc., their names, life stories, RIP messages telling of their sad demises when encountering visiting tourists or tradies 😆

Witnessed a car crash metres infront of me today & must say I'm impressed with the actions of fellow bystanders.

I stopped my car, got out & started walking towards the woman driver of one car who as staggering out of her very smashed up small car.

But before I could get my stride, 6 other people were in-front of me attending to her & the car.

One guy had a hand-held fire extinguisher & was using it on the remains of her car's engine bay.

Four other people were helping her as she sat down, one person had a first-aid kit open on the ground next to her.

Bloody hell, well done fellow Australians, great display of mateship & immediately helping those in need in action. ❤️

I’ve got a quick question: what hashtags do you follow to keep your feed full of beautiful photos?
I’m following film photography and some local tags, but I’d love to find more. If there’s a tag that brings you joy, I’m all ears 👂🏻

I knew there'd be a step before! Most of the news makes it sound like #China are firing warning shots near #Australia out of nowhere for no reason.

I knew it wasn't out of nowhere!!!

So now I've find the step before: the navies of #Straya and #Aotearoa went on a little date together through the #TaiwanStrait (translation #Australia and #NewZealand sent two naval vessels through the Taiwan Strait) and that's why China's navy is now posturing near us. But WHY??? What the bloody hell was the point of that!? Apparently we were escalating China's trolling us in the #SouthChinaSea

Are the #Aussie military just blatantly baiting China to make China do something in response, so that then the #ADF can justify spending more of Australia's money on U.S.American weapons and have an excuse for following the goddamn yanks in to more long stupid pointless immoral imperial quagmires? #ForeverWar

I'm somewhat in favour of Australian supporting our neighbours in the #SouthChinaSea but FFS stick a great big "not our problem" sticker on #Taiwan !

Taiwan have the same population as Australia and the same GDP, but Taiwan spend half as much on their military as we do. And our lavish #yanklapdog force is increasingly aimed at a war in the goddamn North Pacific.

If Taiwan get attacked we should help refugees and give humanitarian aid. Democracy is nice but if we feel so strongly about #democracy we are LONG over due to dump the USA. Two political parties and zero chance for anyone else doesn't even do a plausible impersonation of a democracy!

If our navy want to do some self destructive political posturing we should go hang out for a bit in the Eastern Mediterranean, or maybe we could do something bloody constructive for a change and bring some food and medical supplies to Gaza ? "Sorry, this heavily armed ship was needed for the rough neighborhood, can we drop off this shipment of essential food and medical supplies?

I wish my country wasn't so embarrassing, but I suppose it could be a lot worse.

ABC listen · What is China doing off Australia's coast? - ABC listenThe last few weeks has had various reports of Chinese military exercises taking place off the coast of Australia. We have heard about planes diverting, apparent live-fire drills and confusion if a submarine is following along. But what is really going on and is this unusual?
