Nearby everyone is affected by #car #repair https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:car:repair, so it's incomprehensible how the ID editor admins could introduce a completely unorganized setting in 2018 https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2018-May/036119.html and nothing happened to harmonize the tagging https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=service%3Avehicle#keys
Could be quite easy :
• car:sales
• car:parts
• car:repair
• car:bodywork
• car:tyres
• car:rental

@OSM_tourism i'm a bit lost here. Did ID developers make up tags for a section because it was convenient for them? and nobody noticed?
@marbles not really, it was noticed https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2018-May/036119.html, but no actions have been taken, see https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=service%3Avehicle#keys (preset in ID, therefore the high numbers). But no scheme whatsoever. This leads to a wild bunch of different tagging schemes. Especially interesting if you try to tag something which offers different vehicles (probably only for rent / repair / parts or a mixture, not everything is a dedicated "standard" shop)
@OSM_tourism oh crazy, so there hasn't been a formal proposal on that yet?
@marbles even worse, there were (successful) attempts to cover it : "it's better not to let the undiscussed change of the ID editor unmentioned" https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Tag:shop%3Dcar&action=history
@marbles also interesting, the talk page is completely empty, but : https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Adamant1&diff=2476878&oldid=2476736
