There's an amazing pair of earrings on etsy that I want, and they're only $23.

However, because they're being shipped from the USA, the shipping cost is $33.

I'm in a quandary, because I would pay $56 for these earrings (not happily, but I probably would..) if I found them here, but I also have a personal rule that I refuse to pay more for shipping an item than the item itself costs.

So, do I eat the rule this time and get the earrings? Or do I stand by the rule and do without?

Came just back from an appointment at our great piercer. @GoldenRetrieverGF got the gauges in her ears up another 2mm, which means we're inching closer to where she wants them - one, maybe 2 sessions more.

For me, the project "nipple piercings" went not as great. What I wanted are plain, flat shields - something not horribly rare back in the 90s and 2000s, but these days, absolutely impossible to find. Our piercer apparently phoned all his suppliers unsuccessfully, and the only photo he could find was a private one - and who knows how old that was. So I guess what I want is out of style.

(But if anyone knows a source... please tell!)

So, backup plan for me. I'll get the piercings widenend to 2mm, and put in black continuous rings in 14mm diameter. But that'll have to wait until February.
Also, 14mm@2mm in black will have to be made specifically for me (at least the anodizing)... guess I have an exclusive taste, although saying that about two plain rings feels... strange. #piercing

Victorian-era #nipple #piercing? Yes! In a Parisian #salon, naturally.

I just remembered the time I tracked down a long exchange of detailed letters in an ancient volume of the #Victorian periodical English Mechanic and the World of Science, all about Constance and her little sister Millie who went to the 1889 #Paris Exhibition and came home with #pierced #nipples. It's big fun!

More piercing adventures today.

I saw Dimitri again, at Sage Studio.. and of course it was a fabulous experience.

My housemate (Tracey) also joined me, and she got her lobes repierced. Tracey had her lobes pierced as a baby, but hasn't worn jewellery in them for over 10 years, and they've closed over. She also has really interesting anatomy on her right ear, with what looks almost like an extra earlobe extending from the front of her lobe. I've been joking with her for years now, about having her little extra bump pierced.. I think it would look amazing. I think she's considering it. Her piercing went smoothly, she's super happy with how they look, and is looking forward to being able to wear cute earrings. I think I'm going to buy her a pair of simple hoops to use when she's not wearing something cuter.

When it was my turn, we started off with changing the post in my right high nostril. It hasn't settled properly since being pierced 10 weeks ago, I think that nostril is a little thicker than the other so we've put a slightly longer post in place.

We changed out the glass plug in my conch, to a smaller gauge. This will let it heal into a perfect circle and then I can stretch it up again if I want to (I do!). Dimitri said that it's looking good, and there's a small spot that has a little bump, but that changing the jewellery down should let that bump settle. The new plug is black glass, whereas the old one was clear and the plugs in my lobes are clear. I don't mind how the black glass looks, but when I catch sight of it in the mirror there's a moment where I'm surprised by the big black spot in my ear before I remember what it is.

Then we did my forward helix, also on my right ear. I figure if I can't sleep on that side until the conch is healed properly, I may as well take advantage and get the other piercings I want done on that side. The helix hurt, but nowhere near as much as the conch punch did last month.. and again, the whole experience (hole experience! lol) was fabulous.

Dimitri and I chatted about future piercings I want done, I showed him my inspo picture (below), and it was nice because he matched my excitement about it all.. which I appreciated so much! I asked about maybe getting a helix and vertical helix next month, which will depend on how my others are settling. He doesn't like clients to be healing any more than 4 piercings at a time (and usually not even that many), because each piercing is a wound that the body's immune system needs to deal with.

Anyways, I'm enjoying this. I'm enjoying feeling a sense of control and body euphoria that comes from modification for me. I struggle with how I feel in my body so much, and on so many levels, that the moments when I feel good in my body are precious to me.

I'm getting my conch sized down tomorrow. The piercer I've been seeing is coming to Bathurst from Sydney again, so I've got an appointment for him to look at my conch to see how it's healing.

The plan is to size it down to a smaller plug so that the hole heals in a nice regular circle. I think he's going to say it's looking good.. I can't really see it, but it feels fine.

He's also going to change out one of my high nostrils to a longer bar, because I'm getting an irritation bump and some nesting where it's just not healing up properly.. and hopefully a jewellery change will help.

I got a body mod today!

It's technically a conch piercing, but it's done with a biopsy punch and then tapered up. It's 6mm at the moment, and in a month we'll size down the jewellery to 5mm so that it finishes healing neatly. Then if I want to, I'll be able to stretch it back to 6mm (and maybe further).

Dimitri, guest piercing at Sage Studio, did it - they did my high nostril piercings last month.. and again, it was a fantastic experience.

Everything went smoothly. I felt comfortable the entire time. I was able to ask questions, as well as just chat about body modding. I was a nurse for a long time, and was watching their asceptic technique.. which was spot-on.

The piercing itself was quick. It was painful, I'm not going to lie. Because it's cartilage, there's a roughness to how it feels as it's being done. And it feels achey now as well. But I enjoy those feelings.. they're happy "I did a pretty thing to my body because it's MY body" feels, and I think that's the powerful thing about body modification.

I think it's my favourite piercing I've had done. I love the way it looks with the glass plug in it, and the way the light shines through it.

I'm already wondering about getting a matching one on the flat of my other ear.. 🤔
