@nakieken I remember that sound well. My girlfriend (now wife) and I were using #TexLatex for the first time to write a seminar paper of about 40 pages, or so. You had to pre-compute the fonts for your printer, which took about half a day, and then, because of the high quality printout, a print would take another half day. The printer was in her dorm room. Yeah, she spent the night at my place... Luckily, for our diploma theses, we were later allowed to use the department's new HP Laserjet.
TUG news: Motion 2025.2 is almost unanimously (with Karl Berry abstaining) approved. The motion awards Karl Berry with with a lifetime membership and the title of "Wizard of Systems" in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the TeX community.
#TIL: I just stumbled across `latexmk`'s "clean" option: `latexmk -c`. 
Now, instead of writing
rm -f *.aux *.fdb_latexmk *.fls *.log *.out
in my Makefile's `clean` target, I can just write
latexmk -c
How cool is that?!?

[1/2] Die zweite Präsentation bleibt beim Thema Barrierefreiheit und Ulrike Fischer zeigt einige unterschiedlichen Varianten um #TeXLaTeX nach #HTML zu wandeln.
Ein Ansatz, den ich zum Beispiel für das frühere Backend der @datenschleuder umgesetzt hatte, um epub mitzuliefern.
Es wird #tex4ht, #Pandoc, #LaTeXML, #lwarp und auch der Weg via #NGPDF (HTML aus den #TaggedPDF) gezeigt und verglichen.

Afterwards Erik Braun roughly explained the technical infrastructure and changes of last year to cleanup the historically grown server blob. A lot of stuff was improved but there still is a lot of work left and #CTAN is once again asking for volunteers.
So in case you have too much free time or always wanted to clean up, automate or document old infrastructure… You are welcome to join them!
(And I always offer cookies when uploading a package update… you can take those!)

Debian’s LaTeX packages are great. They’re easy to install and work well in the majority of cases. But they can be outdated. Some recent CTAN packages aren’t available in the #Debian packages, especially if you’ve not upgraded your system in a while. By being careful, it’s possible to replace your Debian-installed LaTeX packages with a vanilla TeX Live installation. This post describes the steps involved in migrating to a bright, shiny, up-to-date #TeXLaTeX distribution.

#DANTE2025 is starting at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt.
Mr. Lion and me are extremly curious about discussions and expecting a boost concerning tagging and accesibility of #TeXLaTeX.
We already realized yesterday, that there is too little time for all the projects we are working on… but … we are all trying our best.
I will try to sum up the talks below this.

Typesetting a font specimen for a #VariableFont with #TeXLaTeX is one of the last adventures apparently ;)
But I got it working now. luaotfload seems to be buggy, but set to render the fonts with #HarfBuzz it seems to work.
Today's feeling? Pure joy! #SILE 0.15.10 is available, and it simply wouldn’t have happened without @alerque’s dedication—hats off! 
I know #TeXLaTeX are time-tested champions, and #Typst is making waves. But have you given SILE a chance?
