"You showed me" - Salt-n-Pepa

The group followed up "Let's talk about sex" with this radically reinventive Turtles cover.

It's a move, similarly ballsy to when they followed up "Push it" with a "Twist and shout" remake a few years earlier.

"Twist and Shout" is a 1961 song written by #PhilMedley and #BertBerns (later credited as "Bert Russell"). It was originally recorded by #theTopNotes, but it did not become a hit in the record charts until it was reworked by #theIsleyBrothers in 1962. The song has been covered by several artists, including #theBeatles, #SaltNPepa, The Astronauts and #ChakaDemusAndPliers, who experienced chart success with their versions.

"You Showed Me" is a song written by #GeneClark and #JimMcGuinn (later known as Roger) of #theByrds in 1964. It was recorded by #theTurtles and released as a #single at the end of 1968, becoming the group's last big #hit in the U.S. The song has also been #covered or partially incorporated into other songs by a number of other acts over the years, including #theLightningSeeds, #SaltNPepa, and #LutriciaMcNeal.
