I’ve worked with the #STmicroelectronics products, since the 1980s (just after their merger). Like most others who work with #MCUs, my familiarity and comfort with ST is due to happenstance, not due to conscious choice. Still, I’m quite happy with my lot in life. Of late, however, I’ve gradually become fond of the #Espressif family.
OK, don't laugh at me; this is my very first #ESP32 #MCU—ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1-N 32R8V (32 MB flash and 8 MB SPRAM) by #Espressif.
Why so late? Well, I'm old and slow, first. Secondly, I've always worked with #STM32 #ARM by #STMicroelectronics.
But boy, I'm loving the #ESP thug life.
@dzu Now looking at the STLinkv3 firmware in Ghidra already.
I am so angry concerning these feature reductions by #STMicroelectronics
@dzu OpenOCD basically supports everything - the question is - which is the least hassle. ST-Linkv3 looked like a good option - good hardware - loads options - good Documentation in PDF - Until you find the on purpose induced pitfalls by #STMicroelectronics
Instead of simply pushing the adapter so all Devs with other Hardware have a big Advertisement on their Desk for STM...
And - No RPi for me thanks ...
I found the Segger EDU Mini already and was not amused. Again some on purpose feature reduction - nearly the same bullshit as with STM ...
Anyone a recommendation for a #JTAG/SWD Probe?
After i failed with an STLinkV3 because #STMicroelectronics locks down the Firmware to only support STM MCUs, and makes changes to firmware hard.
openocd is set ...
#STMicroelectronics makes a 18K Big Sky #CameraSensor So Large Only Four on a 300mm Wafer
#BigSky is a custom 18K camera to shoot high-resolution video for the #MSG Sphere in #LasVegas. The team had to design not just the lenses and camera to capture video played in the Sphere. It also had to design the imaging sensor.
